Cellar, room temperature or refrigerated, how do you store and drink your beer?

And perhaps more importantly, how important is the correct temperature for the style to you?

Interesting thread! I have recently begun drinking my beers at room temperature and although feeling warm I have noticed more complex flavours in the beers that are kept at room temperature as to those that are chilled. Somehow I think I am going to enjoy my beers at room temperature in future.

I tend to refrigerate quite a bit these days, depending on style, but ironically always look forward to to when the beer warms up in the glass.

Depends on the outside or room temperature and style of beer!

In the summer I might put an English bitter/stout/porter in the fridge for a quick half hour, but this time of year I'll take it straight from the beer cupboard in the kitchen

Most of my beer is in the outhouse in the garden so in the winter it is pretty cold and maybe needs to warm a little!

In the summer it can be the other way! Right now it's ideal for most styles!

Pils, lagers, Saisons, IPA's, DIPA's I like from the fridge, but maybe leave to warm for 10 mins prior to drinking

My fridge is no exact science in terms of optimal beer temp (shared with the household food) but I'd say it's on a medium setting of 3/5 not some polar expedition level!

Strong Stouts I'll take from the fridge, pour after a 10/15 warm up and have half the bottle

I will then drink the other half maybe 30-45 mins later when it has warmed a bit and in general I enjoy the flavour more this way, although depending on how strong a beer it is, it may not be so great 'warm warm' if you get my drift!

Keep mine on on a shelf for storage, but on my window sill from the evening into the night if I plan on drinking one. This gives them a slight cooling, not good enough for lager, IPA, wheat beers, pale ales, saisons really or any beer that needs low temperature but good for English ales and other dark beers.

I like refrigerated. I like to drink about 25% at cold temp, 50% at cellar and 25% at room temp. This really only applies to big beers though. Not a fan of Lagers at room temp.

I generally refrigerate all my beers. I keep more in the garage, and will occasionally grab one from there (esp in winter). I take them out and let them warm up for anything from 30mins to more than an hour - the only exception is lagers which I generally crack straight from the fridge. I usually start with a lager to allow time for the first ale to warm up.....

Rarely drink bottled beer but what I do have is kept in a cool cupboard under the stairs which seems to do the trick.

i keep the stuff i want age in a fridge at cellar temperature. (basically one of those rubbish little promotional beer fridges that aren't as strong as regular fridges- perfect for my needs though.) i drink mine from the fridge, much like cellargimp, i like to see how they develop over time.

I really should get myself one of those rubbishy little promotional fridges. Sure would reduce the quibbling which goes on about my hobby annexing the big fridge in the kitchen.
