Bottle to snifter.
LOOK: cola black, healthy off white head.
AROMA: pipe tobacco, hickory, very pungent.
TASTE: peaty malt, smoke, needs some additional body or sweetness to match the smoke.
FEEL: Medium Body, decent carbonation.
Interesting Smokey beer. Could be better with something to compliment the smoke.

Very dark, brownish-red body with a very thick, rocky, light tan head; lots of sticky lacing. A little smoke, a little spice in the aroma; some burnt toast notes. Decent smoke flavor infused with a thin chocolate undertone; strong bitterness throughout. Medium-heavy body; rich and smooth mouthfeel.
A decent though slightly disjointed smoked beer. I didn't get much in of the rye presence other than the barest hint of it in the aroma and even less of a rye tang in the flavor. The mouthfeel at times felt rather weak yet for the most part had a fair heft of smoothness. The overall taste comes across pretty well for a smoked beer: decent malt presence, smoke prominent but not over-killing anything.
