Explore San Diego’s Brewniverse at the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center. Science on the Rocks Invites You to “TAP THIS: THE ART OF THE BREW” on THURSDAY, JANUARY 24, at 6:30PM

Indulge in a decadent night of discovery, with exclusive access to tasty temptations, engaging entertainment, and inspired interaction.

Science on the Rocks, the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center’s after-hours party for adults 21 and older, presents “Tap This: The Art of the Brew,” exploring the scientific alchemy of our local brewniverse at the Fleet on Thursday, January 24, at 6:30PM. Admission provides exclusive access to tasty temptations, sips of suds, engaging entertainment and inspired interaction. Hop into the experience and enjoy sweet and savory samples from local restaurants, sip suds from a bevy of San Diego breweries and master beer-centric science challenges.

Bites & Brews will allow our guests to savor complimentary samples from standout local restaurants, including Stone Catering, West Coast Tavern, Brazen BBQ, D Bar, Slater’s 50/50 and Neighborhood. Thirsts will be quenched by imbibing a bevy of local beers; choose from samples by Stone Brewing Co., Hillcrest Brewing Company, Green Flash Brewing Co., Helm’s Brewing Co., Mad Lab Craft Brewing and Monkey Paw Brewing Company. Tasting tokens are included with your ticket. Or pick your own pleasure and hit the no-host full bar from BarWorks, offering beer, wine, and cocktails. DJ Joey Jimenez will provide a soundscape suited for dancing!

In order to better Mix & Mingle, Fleet facilitators and scientific experts will assist attendees in various alchemical activities! You can discover the Physics of Beer Pong; compete in the Beer Goggle Challenge; or make carb garb by designing your own tasty, twisted Pretzel Necklace. There will also be a chance to get the up close and personal 411 on beer with Chat Craft, as you converse with our local brewing experts.

All proceeds benefit the Fleet’s nonprofit mission of furthering the public understanding and enjoyment of science and technology. Tickets are $20 for non-members; $18 for students and military; and $15 for Fleet members, staff and volunteers, and Balboa Park employees. Beer Boss Upgrade: $15 more gets you a glass beer mug with custom engraving. Pick up your mug and have your name engraved at the party.

Tickets are on sale now at www.scienceontherocks.eventbrite.com (some fees apply); or onsite at the Fleet’s Ticket Counter. Tickets will be $25 (if available) at the door the night of the party; no discounts apply. Advance tickets are selling quickly. This event is open to adults ages 21 and over only.
