Avery Brewing Tasting @ La Bodega
Sunday - January 13, 2008
@ 03:00PM / ends @ 06:00PM
Beer Tasting / Release @
La Bodega Wine And Beer
This Sunday we get back on the Grain Train with a tasting of the beers of Avery Brewing, based in Boulder, Colorado. Avery is the kind of brewery that - a few years ago - would have qualified as a 'cult' brewery. Their beers are far-reaching in style and intensely flavored (and designed). If it weren't for the fact that, locally, they are carried by the biggest beer house, they would probably remain a Geek Brewery. But they are well represented in Portland, and we reap the
rewards of accessibility. Their beers are not always my cup of tea, but in every case I understand their intent and respect their balls (can I say that on TV?).
Anyhow, this Sunday we will be running the gamut of styles from light and fresh to heavy and sweet. The time, as per forever, will be from 3 - 6pm. The cost will be $9, including them there AmberVittles. Such a Deal.
Here's the lineup:
White Rascal Belgian Wheat
IPA ('nuff said)
Karma Belgian Strong Ale
New World Porter (appropriate, no?)
The Reverend Belgian-style Quadruppel (just bitchin' with a nice cigar - really)
Thanks much; hope to see you soon. However, expect Barista-style service Saturday afternoon as I will be spellbound by the Packers game.
Sorry in advance. A little.
