got home today and there was a tall box that could hold a 6 pack on my doorstep, got excited, opened the door and alas, work shit. :'( grabbed a burton baton out of my fridge and went back to work... lol
I am sorry for the lack of info in this thread. The box is in transit, heading west, will land Friday! Dave, if it was going to you I would have driven it to you, saved on shipping and shared some bottles with you.
The eagle has landed! I repeat the eagle has landed. If you live in a swing state that may play a large role in the upcoming election you should be checking your doorstep!
The eagle has landed on my doorstep! Hoooooly shit.....trying to post a picture but it's not working!! Gah....
So my actual picture of the bottles isn't working....here's what I got in the box though! Thanks, Cuzco!!!!!
P.S. Do I randomly choose the next target? I'm guessing yes, but wanted to make sure since nothing was numbered on the list.
Random? Maybe not so much random? Look at your potential targets. Some will be ruled out by geography. Someone in Ohio will have very little to send to someone else in Ohio, Kentucky or Indiana. So distance may be a factor. Maybe you can blow someones wants up? Or perhaps I can blow up a should have wants list. Lots of factors go into who I would ship to next.
So, was there a note as to which were the 3 that you're supposed to "value"? I'm going on the assumption that the Cantillons are those 3, but just curious if it was specifically noted as such. Also...gooooood luck matching the value for those babies. Hope you have a deep cellar!
No, there was no note except for the address list(which I'm retyping since I totally wrote notes on it as I was checking "wants" lists). I'm basing the value on the entire box since it was not noted, so my target will be receiving beers based on that value vs. just the Cantillon values. My target will be receiving more than just 5 beers because of said overall value, I can definitely tell you that.
Sounds good. I think I referenced 3 bottles since that was Cuzco's original example of how this would work. Going forward though, any "extras" outside of the value should probably be marked as such. Otherwise, the overall value of the box is only going to climb exponentially and be unfair for those later in the BIF.
Very true. My box was expensive! I'm estimating $70 for the Cantillons alone based on what they're priced here in CLE when they come in sporadically. I would hate for the value to climb any higher than that.
Right. But remember, this trade is "What's the value to YOU". I think we all have our own personal gauge for what is considered valuable and whats not. I know some people who cherish Cantillon Rose de Gambrinus like it's the holy grail. But having had it several times, I (personally) value it much lower than them. Anyway, that's just my two cents on this all. Can't wait to see how this box transforms over time.
I am glad the box made it safe and sound! The 4 "Sour/Wild" beers are the "Trade" beers. The Pretty Things is an Extra because I really like that beer and I don't think they make it to OH.
Wow. I have a feeling these few high-magnitude bottles are going to generate one enormous box for the next doorstep. Excellent work setting this bar nice and high from stop #1.
Two words: Holy Shit! Epic first box. I can only hope what I have lined up is enough to cover the eventual spread. Really looking forward to it.
