Not something you've heard somebody else say, but something you actually believed at one point in your life...

My example - During my youth, I was convinced by some old bullshitters that all the macro brews from their respective breweries were the same recipe and just segmented according to how well the batch turned out. i.e. Busch Light was just crappy Bud Light and Michelob was just the Budweiser that had turned out really well.

I recall holding on to this "knowledge" for a few years.

that all beer is a pilsner... except for bock beers. so basically, there are only 2 types of beer. Held onto that one until I was about 20.

Is it possible for something incorrect to be more incorrect than something else that also happens to be incorrect? ....Thats a Chinese riddle for you Rhonda

That it could taste good. When I started drinking in 74, there wasen't too much to choose from. It was all kind of bland.

About a year ago, I thought that I could drink my cellar down below 300 bottles and get it to an equilibrium of about 100 or so. Because for some reason I believed that I was going to stop buying more beer.

Also, I used to believe that $4 was a ridiculous amount to spend on a single bottle of beer.

I just spent a shameful chunk of change shipping beer back to myself from a work trip. After dropping the packages off I was on the phone with my wife and told her I was done buying beer for a couple months.

    She just laughed at me.

Better to be laughed at than be the object of a withering glare. I've actually gotten a lot better and more selective over the past year or so, but I still get "the look" whenever I say I need to go "run an errand"...

The old ipa myth that everyone believes. I still chuckle when I'm at a restaurant or on a breweries website and they have the ole dragged across the land so they threw in extra hops story. Believed it for a few years tho.
