I'm in western PA and my new favorite beer is by Sam Adams, called Black and Brew, a light tasting, coffee flavored beer. Unfortunately this is a seasonal beer and is already unavailable until next year. Are there any similar flavored beers by other manufacturers that are made all year round that are available in my area?
+1 to Founders Breakfast Troegs Java Head is probably my favorite readily accessible and inexpensive coffee beer. Since you're in PA it shouldn't be hard to track down either. Dogfish Head has a beer called Black Lodge on draft at their brewpub right now called Black Lodge that is a fantastic coffee beer. I would love to see it bottled in the future.
Not sure if they are available to you, but the two that come to mind are Wolaver's Alta Gracia Porter and Peak Organic Espresso Amber.
I haven't had the SA beer so couldn't comment on similar flavors but I enjoy Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout.
I assume you get Great Divide in PA, and espresso yeti is one of, if not my favorite coffee beers of all time.
Founders Breakfast Stout is king, but you should try a few Porters which are GREAT! I'm a little partial to Founders Porter though... I tried Bells Kalamazoo Porter and it was a little on the weak side comparatively.
Epic Brewing Big Bad Baptist (Holy crap it has a ton of coffee flavor). Peche Mortal Founders FBS Bell's Java Stout
I find that to be a great beer, but I get a lot less coffee off of it than I do the Breakfast for some reason.
Troeg's Java Head and Dundee's Porter are year round, pretty good and I believe are both found in your area.
I live an hour north of the brewery and we can't even get Surly! It is great that it's a year-round brew though, and it meets the criteria the OP is looking for better than most of the suggestions I've had. Had Bell's Java Stout last night, great coffee beer. Founder's Breakfast Stout is top-notch. Not sure whats all in the PA market.
Not sure if this is available to you, but this was pretty bad ass: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/15711/75902/?ba=Gmann
Dieu Du Ciel Peche Mortel Founders Breakfast Stout Alesmith Speedway Stout Southern Tier Jahva and Mokah Mikkeller Beer Geek I definitely enjoy all of these quite fresh, so try to stay away from the dusty bottles. Coffee flavors also seem to not tolerate age that well.
A little bit harder to find, but Black Damnation (Mocha Bomb) from De Struisse is pretty damn good. Brewed with coffee beans out of a craft Columbian coffee plantation.
