I guess I'll finish the night with another Stout. Kabert with it's funky upside down label. Cheers, all!

Probably not a good idea to follow up a Green Flash West Coast with this.

Onward we go. On to the Maple Pecan Porter, the lone savior in the Spring Thaw Sam Adams box.

Nils Oscar Imperial Stout (Sweden) - 7%

Didn't expect much, but WOW this stuff is tasty! September 2011 bottling. It has amazing bacony smoke and some rusty flavor (might be slightly oxidized) over the big roasted coffee notes. The profiles here remind me of fresh Plead the 5th on tap. Obviously never ever a bad thing.

Got more of this stuff? I say gimme gimme gimme!

Lamest segway ever as an excuse for an Abba video.

It's definitely an unusual IPA. The Westmalle yeast blends with the hops to give it a distinct flavor. Kind of like a good Belgian tripel with a pineapple-like sweetness.

Very sweet. Akin to Choklat but even less balanced. I'll go back to my Peche Mortel and FBS thank you very much. Milk stouts are just not my thing.

As far as my palate goes at the moment, Liberator > Hopslam. That being said, drinking both of these tonight makes me pretty proud of my home state of Michigan! Two damn fine DIPAs, pretty different from each other, but both for sure are among the best of the style.

Ever since I had this for the first time on tap at Kickbacks Gastropub, it has gotten better every time I've had it.
