Big thanks to jefferson for this trade. It's my first Hopslam and while very good, I can see why many think it's a bit overhyped. Maybe I'm spoiled here in San Diego with access to great IPA/DIPAs, but I'd rather fill my Alpine pint glass with something from Alpine.
    Cheers!

Well, I'm not having a beer just yet, but later this afternoon my local bottle shop/tasting room/growler fill stop, Elizabeth Station, is having their one year anniversary party. Here are the beers they'll be pouring: FW Sucaba, Cascade Apricot Sour, Deschutes Jubel 2010 aged in Pinot Noir barrels, Abyss (I'm unsure of the vintage), an as yet undetermined cask from Kulshan (likely to be their new Saison), cask aged Torpedo from Sierra Nevada, and the unveiling of a collaboration brew between ES and Two Beers from Seattle, Walking Distance. In addition, every one gets a souvenir glass, a slice of pizza, a fresh baked cookie, and a scoop of ice cream from a local ice cream maker. It's going to be great! And RIP to Canadian legend Stompin' Tom Connors who passed away yesterday:

Backwoods Bastard. This is still one of my all time favorites... nice lunch beer! Have to let it warm a bit. Hard to drink slow enough to allow the flavor to bloom.

Today, to celebrate my 35th birthday, I will be celebrating with my family and friends the birth of my baby boy, Kayden Alexander (who turns 2 weeks old today) with a Special Kay (closest thing I could find to his first name), Rodenbach Alexander, and Blabaer 12 (the bluest thing I could think of).

(I eventually gave up trying to get him to look up at me. Poor thing had just woken up :) )

    Cheers all! Life is good.

Blush...just try to mix it up and explore with what might taste good with certain beers.
Maybe we should meet up for lunch?

One of my locals has a dry-hopped version of Immortal as one of house taps. If you ever find yourself in the Puget Sound region, you need to find some.

I have 3 but makes me want to have more kids. He looks so adorable wedged in between those bottles. Personally, I would have had him holding the Alexander bottle to balance off the picture, but that's just me.

Enjoying a little bit of this today! Thus far I think this is the only distilled beer made into a liquor. If there is any others, I am curious..

And a very happy 35th for Leschkie!
