Let's not jump the gun yet guy's. Label approval doesn't mean we are getting it. Yeah, I know. I'm a kill joy. I'll believe it when it hits the shelves. Thats in regards to all BCBS's.
BLACK CRACK - BOURBON BARREL AGED BURRIE MALT BEVERAGE 2013-01-23 SOUTHERN STAR BREWING COMPANY (10.25 ABV) I want some BLACK CRACK! edit: adding label
And I loved that stuff...murk and all. 4 Roses is nice in any form but I was a relative and remain a barrel aged novice.
I enjoyed the BA Wake Up Dead, but didn't taste too much of the barrel, just a slight edge that came out more as it warmed up. Still, a very quality beer and the average score on here seemed way too low to me. I give it a 3.75-4.0.
I had it when Hay Merchant did their soft opening. They have another keg of BA Buried Hatchet in the back, I heard its supposed to make an appearance on 2/15 for their anniversary party.
Some goodies that I found today: SN Barrel-Aged Bigfoot (01/31) Ovila Abbey Quad w/ Plums (1/31) Ballast Point Sea Monster (1/29) Maui Aloha B'Ak'Tun (1/28) Adelbert's Vintage Series - Naked Nun - Barrel Aged 6 months And for all the die hard BA's - Bud Light Lime Straw-ber-rita!
OVILA BARREL-AGED QUAD ALE PREARIS QUADRUPEL BELGIAN ALE PETRUS AGED RED ALE and a few black ipa's GRAINSTORM BLACK RYE IPA - BOULEVARD BREWING COMPANY ICON BLUE CASCADIAN DARK ALESIERRA NEVADA BLACK EYE PA
I was totally focused on some Grainstorm... but then someone said Bud Light Lime Straw-ber-rita!! Boom, that's got to be amazing!!!
not gonna lie, pretty stoked about the BA adelberts, although i feel it could possibly be a major let down
Lots of goodies today: Jester King El Cedro (02/08) Firestone Walker XVI, Parabola, Sucaba, Velvet Merkin, Reserve Porter, Wookey Jack, Double Jack, 805) Goose Island Summertime Stone Old Guardian Oak-Smoked Sixpoint Apollo Pinkus Hefeweizen Oskar Blues - Chaka Clown Shows - Luchador En Fuego Mexican Austin Beerworks - Heavy Machinery Black IPA New Belgium - Lips of Fath Cascara Quad, Dieu De Ciel, La Folie, Transatlantique Kriek, Rampant IPA
Fuck. I better start socking some money away, because I'm going to buy almost everything on that list.
Also... wtf is with the Heavy Machinery IPA approval? It's approved for 16oz "kegs" and doesn't look like any can or bottle design I've ever seen. You can make out '1 Pint' on their scan of it though. I'm guessing a can label ala Southern Star seasonals. It's weird though. I'd copy it here but I'm away from my desk. It also says "Exclusively Sold in Austin". Perhaps a local can or bottle series?
I'm pretty sure it's 16 oz cans and they'll be using stickers like Southern Star. I believe this is what I was told last time I was at ABW. I think they're aiming for 6 different IPA seasonals this year.
