As summer officially winds down and Oktoberfests and Pumpkin beers crowd the shelves, I was thinking about my favorite summer brews I drank this year. I know that summer seasonals don't get a ton of love on this site but I happen to love sessionable beers and lighter styles. Some of my favorites this year included: Goose Island Summertime Victory Summer Love Founder's All Day IPA Mother Earth Endless River So, fellow BAs what were your favorite beers to consume during this long, hot summer?
Victory Headwaters was a nice surprise. Crisp, easy drinking Citra pale. Also, The Sixpoint spice of life series was nice as well. The base beer was a little on the weak side, but hitting up all the different hop varieties with each growler was fun.
I know that Bell's Oberon often takes a lot of flack, but I still think it is delicious, and can drink it all day out on the patio, at the beach, etc.
I had lots of- Victory Summer Love Troegs Sunshine Pils Lancaster Kolsch ...and I'll probably do the same next year!
Founders All Day IPA was great this summer Also Zombie Dust/ Gumball head (I know its a all yr offering )but man it taste so good on hot summer days and nights.
Not all exactly seasonals, but new to me this summer and good ones for the summer. Sam Adams Whitewater IPA Boulevard 80 Acre New Belgium Shift Deschutes Twilight
Gotta give it to Victory Summer Love. I like Stoudt's Pils and Stoudt's Kolsch when it's REALLY hot, but the Summer Love delivers on the hops as well as drinkabiity. Cheers guys.
Summer love was definitely my favorite of this summer season but Firestone Walker Solace was definitely a close second.
Anderson Valley Summer Solstice. Cans. Perfect for a hot day fishing out on the boat, or by the pool. It was my go to beer this summer. One place around town had cases of it after everyone else was out. Waited too long, and it was gone when i went back to get a case for the rest of the summer. Oh well.
Not summer seasonals but stone put out solid releases across the board this summer, loved all of them. For summer brews I enjoyed victory summer love a lot more then I thought I would.
Ive gotta go with Anderson Valley Summer Solstice and Victory Summer Love. Columbus Brewing Summer Teeth is up there as well.
Well, if you want to count late August as a true 'summer release', then without a doubt for me it was Southern Star's Pro-Am DIPA.
You and me both. In a year where I got to try my first Parabola, Pliny, Uncle Jacob's Stout, Oud Floris, and White Rajah, my discovery of Red Chair remains my favorite 2012 find.
It didn't last long in Casper but I got more than my fair share but I agree it would be awesome to have it around all year.
I loved Green Lakes Organic Ale, I'm not sure why, but it hit home with me. I just wish I would have drank more of it! : D
Without a question these three beers- Fremont Summer Ale-its so drinkable with a wonderful flavor profile! My favorite and most memorable this year! Lawsons Double Sunshine-most drinkable DIPA; for when I want a big hoppy beer with great drinkability. Abby Jacks Hoponius Union-it reminds me of Fremont summer ale, but I like the fremont a little better!
I slept on the Victory Summer Love, didn't know it was that good. Might still be some around, but at this point, is it worth it? For me it was: Odell-St. Lupulin Widmer-Summer Citra Summit-Saga IPA Lagunitas-DayTime IPA, even though it was a late "summer" release Toppling Goliath--Psuedo Sue(support local craft)
