I recently had a 2001 Gale's Prize Old Ale, which was the oldest beer I've ever had (it also happened to be dead flat). I figure some of you surely have me beat, so, I'm curious: what's the oldest beer you've had?

2002 Two Brothers Bare Tree on Tap at their 15th anniversary thing a couple weeks ago...

Good stuff and ENTIRELY different than more current vintages...

I recently had a bottle of one of the Lagunitas Zappa anniversary beers from 2008. Not very impressive compared to Mr. 26 year old Westmalle above, I know...

If it makes you feel better, the 26 year old bottle was heavily oxidized, flat, and only barely drinkable.

I had a Mad River Barleywine from 1998, was awful. I have the JW Lees Harvest '99, supposed to be pretty good right now, but I haven't cracked it open yet.

I had some 2008 Deschutes Mirror Mirror on tap at brouwers during the hard liver festival, the oldest thing I've had so far.

A local brewpub (Roman's) had 2007 Bigfoot on for a while and thats was delcious! I just sold my bottle of 2006 Abt 12 60th Anniversary to someone who'd appreciate it more than I would probably. Still very hard to let go... went to a good home. Guess that's it... :slight_frown:

Had a 25 year old bottle of Thomas Hardy and wasn't impressed. At that age, was way cool at the time and the establishment let me keep the bottle (at my request). Way, way mellow and not much excitement on the taste. Would I do it again? (at $50/bottle). NOPE!

The oldest beers I ever had were some 12oz I found while helping my pop clean out his garage in 2006. The beers I found were from some long-gone brewery. While they weren't dated, they were at least 10 years old at that point, as we had moved into that house 10 years prior and they were buried at the very back and bottom of all the unpacked boxes of crap. My suspicion is that they were much older than that that, perhaps even from the 80's. They were all terrible, with the exception of a rich, imperial stout that was still totally drinkable.
