I'd have to agree. Even though I have yet to try Sofie, I do enjoy Matilda very much and they seem to have some very solid Belgian offerings
Virginia: Hardywood Gingerbread Stout This is probably a homer pick for me, but it would be my choice at this very moment. Honorable mention: Williamsburg AleWerks Cafe Royale and Bitter Valentine, and Mad Fox Orange Whip
Kane Head High IPA from NJ. absolutely no contest. blows anything else from Jersey out of the water IMO.
Nobody from California checked in yet? Probably way to hard to name just one. Of the following list: RR - Pliny the Younger RR - PtE AleSmith - SpeedWay Stout Alpine - Exponential Hoppiness Alpine - Nelson Kern River - Citra Bruery - Black Tuesday I'll go with AleSmith's SpeedWay Stout. Just so well balanced.
It is difficult to figure out the best beer in my country (the USA) bercausde there are so many thousands to choose from. But here in New Hampshire I favor most of the beers that are coming out of the White Birch Brewery. Smuttynose brews are better known on a national scale but eventually White Birch will get its name out there.
Minneapolis,MN,has a bunch i will list a few 3 hour tour Czar Jack Twisted Jim Size 7 IPA Abrasive Wet
What about Evolution Lot 3 IPA for MD? There aren't many great beers from this state, but I'd put this up against any readily available IPA on the market.
I'll need more people from the Atlanta area to weigh in on this: Terrapin - Wake-n-Bake Wild Heaven - Eschaton (just barely escapes the OPs rule since you can grab growlers every now and then)
There are a bunch of good brews from NC, but if I had to pick one I would go with: -Olde Hickory Lindley Park -Fullsteam Working Man's Lunch (honorable mention)
Tough call when going across different types/styles, so I will backup the posts from my Ohio brethren and say: GLBC BA Blackout Stout FatHead's Headhunter IPA TBK White Rajah IPA
So many awesome brews from Cali...I'd have to submit PtY with Kern River Citra a close 2nd... Honorable mention: Exponential Hoppiness Parabola CFH BA Speedway Sucaba Cheers!
I really didn't think there would be much of a contest in NJ. It's Head High by far. Their double dry hopped galaxy head high is even better, but as far as I know it was only brewed once.
I feel comfortable seconding this. I feel CL deserves a spot and Black Ops is killer, but these are both solid choices.
Nevada- the 2012 Bourbon Barrel RIS brewed by Alex Graham for Joseph James Brewing. (BeerandRaiderFan: BM me if you would like a bottle. I'm up there about once a month, and have had many good drafts from Great Basin. I'm a fan...but you need to give this 2012 batch a taste.)
I don't think my scores reflect this, but I'd pick Lakefront Brewing's Riverwest Stein beer for Wisconsin.
Another Ohio post, but I'll say: Columbus IPA FatHead's Headhunter IPA TBK White Rajah IPA Rockmill Tripel
