    B&M's:

    • A selection from Wadworth: St. George & The Dragon (99p), 125 Celebratory Stout (£1.49), Old Timer (£1.69) and Red, White And Brew (99p).

    • Thwaites Old Dan 330ml (£1.09). 7.3% and bottle conditioned.

Nothing worth getting down to Lidl or Home Bargains for at the moment. Tesco trumps all.

    - Thwaites Tavern Porter (bottle cond.,4.7%, 500ml) - £1.39.

Cheers for the tip off! Managed to grab last 5 bottles, along with 2 Badgers Poachers Choice and a Wychwood Dr Thirsty's No.4

Will be going back soon in hope that they restock. Curiously, the bottles were now only £1.99 a pop instead of £3.99.

    Not the World's best offer
but Spar have 3 bottles of ale for £5.50 but they do seem to get some stuff in
that you don't see varying from the usual supermarkets and shop chains
mine has Ossett, Bowland and (unfortunately) Copper Dragon.

What made me make a purchase was Hawkshead red
which I normally only see in spec beer shops selling at about £3.50
when the big T does their Lakeland Gold for about £1.75 (tho it's never inc in offers)

oh and some Derwent beers which include 'State Bitter'
    the label reads

"Carlisle State Bitter was first brewed during the First World War when the State Brewery Scheme was brought into Annan and Carlisle district, nationalising the brewery and all the public houses to control the drinking of imprtant munitions workers."

Was in B&M earlier - they had some bottles of Huber lager and Huber Bock on the shelves for cheap. Some sort of US brewer that I've never heard of.

Odd. It gets included in offers at my Tesco - currently 4 for £6....

I got the lager, didn't see the Bock (I live opposite a B&M's so I'll check again real soon)

The Huber stuff is probably firesale stock as the Huber Brewery is now the

Wholefoods in Glasgow have doubled the size of their beer/cider area since I was last in, so it's a bit better. A mix of a few new bottles - kernel, campden, tiny rebel among others and an increase in existing lines.

Bought a load of strong ale in Waitrose and Sainsbury's today. Old Tom, Brakspear Triple, Fuller's Golden Pride AND Vintage Ale, Banks's Barley Gold (that last one's more for curiosity).

    I was in Altrincham Tesco

well to be more specific shitloads

so I got the 4 for £6 because that is what the Manchester beer shop charges for one.

Right! I've had enough of being one of those guys, you know the ones, those guys who's towns can't support a decent sized Tescos or Sainsburys. So I'm up early doing tai chi and yoga in preparation for a trek to Sunderland *shudder* to battle with the crowds. If there's no Courage RIS or decent beer selection, watch out for news reports of someone throwing themself off Roker pier

Success! Seemingly Tesco Extras are the only size stores worth patronising.
A clutch of Courage RIS and sundry other beery delights have now been secured and the water around Wearmouth remains relatively unpolluted.

A few beers I hadn't encountered before that I found in Tescos:
    Roscoes x2
    Point x2
    Piston head
    Adnams Innovation
