Whenever a visitor asks for places to go, there's quite a few people who chime in with a short or long list of options - so it's known that people here are going to these places and have opinions of them. But heck, when you look those places up in the "Places" section here on BA it turns out that many of them have so few reviews that they don't meet a minimum threshold to be listed in the Phoenix summary page.

Now I don't care if you love or hate any of the following. These are some of the places that many of you have tried or perhaps frequent regularly. Why not take a few minutes and do a short review of some of them? I think this would improve BA and especially so with regard to Phoenix and making Phoenix a more attractive beer experience for both locals and visitors who might use this part of the site. We might even get fewer requests for where to go, and when you think about it those requests make perfect sense when the ones sometimes or often mentioned aren't even reviewed by active BA's. Advocate please...

    Thanks.

Completely agree with this as far as people reviewing places on BA. The same thing goes for Houston, Austin, San Antonio and DFW. So many great places, with so little reviews. It does not take a lot of time, and I would rather see some familiar faces that post here write reviews. Then someone who writes one all 5 or all 1 star review, and is never heard from again.

Mad chef gastro pub is closed and how about taking the time to review them yourself?

I live in downtown phoenix, most of the good places to drink for me are ones that have good Happy hour.
My favorites are The Parlor, which has Myrcenary DIPA on tap. http://theparlor.us/

Angels Trumpet Ale House has a great selection, but no happy hour and thier prices tend to be on the high side
    http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/29741

If you want to drink local, like a few selections of Four peaks you can find a 2.50 pint on Happy hour try Humble Pie Downtown, friendly service 2333 N 7th St, Phoenix, AZ 85006

O.H.S.O which is in the arcadia area of Central Phoenix features local beers on happy hour for 6.00 a pitcher(32oz) including Dragoon IPA which is one of the best IPA's Ive ever had. ohsobrewery.com/

The Vig is another great place for happy hour food and drinks, They have about 8-9 rotating taps, and often have something pretty good, I recently had a Oskar Blues G'Knight Imperial Red..HMMM and they have 90 minute IPA in the bottle for 3.00 on happy hour, about the same price as taking it home www.thevig.us/.

If you are on the west side, there is a small place in Northwest Peoria called The Tasting Room. They are mainly a wine place with some good sandwiches and cheese trays but they have a decent selection of craft beers. It is usually a little awkward in there as it is small and a lot of retired regulars that think they own the place but they have a nice selection.

Are there any bottle shops near Old Town Scottsdale? I am going to be there for business next weekend.

Total Wine and more is probably the closest to you, (Less than 6 miles from old town scottdale)
1670 E Camelback Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85016 - Theres other places that have less of a selection, and are more pricey, but "might" have some other stuff. I recently found Hopslam for about 18 bucks for the 6 pack, it was fresh, thats a bit rare for AZ. But total wine should have a bunch that you wont get in IL ...what are you looking for?

Papago Brewing is the closest place to Old Town Scottsdale, less than 2 miles away. We have 13 cooler windows full of individual bottles and make your own 6 packs. Also 30 taps to choose from while you are shopping.

    Cheers, Ron

It should not have taken 9 posts, and Ron having to chime in himself for Papago to finally be mentioned if this is even close to a legitimate thread on good places in Phoenix. Papago is in the top tier of the answer without a doubt.

Top's Liquor as far as bottle shops, and Taste of Tops are excellent as well.

Sun Devil Liquor is the sister store to Top's, except it's a little bigger but out of the way. Whole foods Chandler has an amazing selection of beer too.

Has four peaks seriously not been mentioned yet?

Did you read the beginning of the thread at all? This isn't a general thread about good places in Phoenix. This is a thread to appeal to people to review newer places that they've obviously been to but haven't. Our "places" section on BA is under used relative to the number of people who write beer reviews, recommend places in threads, yet don't review those places on BA - so these places don't have the minimum threshold # to show up in the Phoenix section.

I recommend Total Wine & Bevmo that have locations 5.5 miles up Scottsdale Road on Scottsdale Road just south of Shea. They're open in the morning. You can shop online. You can see their selection and prices online. Bevmo has growlers of draft beer to go also. The two locations are in adjacent shopping centers.

Agreed that the thread took a wrong turn, however Ron was responding to a off topic post about bottle shops near old town Scottsdale. Nothing wrong with that. So Mr. Yemenmocha why haven't you taken the time to review the places you want others to review?

Mr BigBelcher I've reviewed every, or nearly every one I've visited. I selected a short list of places whose names come up a lot on the forums and in conversations at WF and other places - yet have very few reviews here.

I sincerely appreciate you writing a couple reviews after this thread was created. Last I looked, you were the only one who was willing to do so.

People can't review everything, though yemen does as good as just about anyone in the Southwest group for place reviews.

I do most of my drinking at home, so that's my excuse for not doing more place reviews. I'll commit to doing a review for Angel's Trumpet, Papago and OHSO over the next few weeks.

Now that I've put that in writing, feel free to hold me accountable...
