I think he's an accidental troll. Just doesn't get it but really likes to chime in.
Highest- NB Lips of Faith Transatlantique Kriek: +23.2% @4.25
Lowest- Southern Star Black Crap.. (Crack**): -39.6% @2.5
The New Belgium beer was my first Kriek, so I had nothing to compare it to in it's style, and I enjoyed it thoroughly, so I rated accordingly.
As far as Black Crack goes, I rated it according to style as well. 2.5 is right in the middle as far as the 1-5 scale goes, so I figured I was being generous. This IS the most lame representation of a barrel aged imperial stout that I have ever had. I've had barrel aged Wake Up Dead as well, if that puts it into perspective for you.. It's rating is clearly a representation of Texas pride.
Ratings - Peche Mortel 5, DFH Raison D'Etre 3.5 (Just did not like this beer, I only drank half)
rDev - Peche Mortel+13.5%, Odell Mercenary DIPA -13.8(Normally, I do like this beer too, it must have been old)
I have many beers stashed and that I haven't reviewed yet. I am expecting there to be new highs and lows afterwards.
+16.8 for Swamp Head Batch 300, which i scored a 4.46
-a whopping 61.1 for Florida Avenue IPA, which is a poor excuse for a beer, and i scored 1.28
This is silly.
I just beat my negative rDev with my review of DuClaw's Sweet Baby Jesus, which ties my lowest rating of 2.18 (Sobrehumano Palena'ole by Maui w/ Jolly Pumpkin), but has an rDev of -44%. Sorry DuClaw.
+37% for chapeau exotic. I love pineapple.
-62% southern tier crime brûlée. Fucking disgusting.
highest rDev: Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale -- +20.5% (4.93 rating)
lowest rDev: Southern Star's Old Potentate -- -26.6% (2.73 rating)
highest rating: Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale -- 4.93
lowest rating: Miller High Life -- 2.05
Highest rating: FBS 4.55
Greatest +rDev: Sam Adams Double Agent IPL +11.8%
Lowest rating: Busch Light 1.43 (likely a pretty old can)
Greatest -rDev: Tuborg Pure Gold -48.9% (probable massive infection)
I gave Stone IPA a 5 back in '08 and that coincidentally gave me my highest rDev of 17.1%. I honestly wouldn't consider it a 5 anymore but since I don't really review beers anymore (just hads nowadays) I haven't bothered editing my old ass reviews.
My biggest negative rDev is -58% for Heavy Seas Hang Ten. It was a bottle of pure garbage. The shittiest attempt I've ever had from an American brewery attempting a German style. To this day I count the Heavy Seas line amongst my least favorite in craft beer. And yet, the 1.6 that I scored it wasn't my lowest overall. That distinction goes to Cave Creek Chili Beer, which I scored a 1.3. An abomination, that one is.
3. He is a troll
Highest Rating (tie):
Fou' Foune (4.9) +6.5%
Zombie Dust (4.9) +5.6%
Before-After (1.2) -51.0%
Shorts Plum Rye Bock (4.1) +14.8%
Before-After (1.2) -51.0%
My highest is +23.4% on Old '99 Barleywine by Barley Creek. This one might not really count though since there are only 17 reviews and the pDev is 32.89%! lol!
Lowest is -31.5% on National Bohemian Beer by Pabst Brewing, but that also has a low(ish) number of reviews at 208 and has a high pDev as well at 24.32%...
Three Floyds SoBro (4.25) +26.1%
J.W. Lees Harvest Ale (Port Cask) (1.75) -57.8%
While I normally feel like I overrate beers, I have a much greater variance in -rDev
Before-After is truly vile. Probably my worst beer too outside of malt liquor offerings.
Wild Thing +44.3 %
Great sour, great thing about it was because no one was buying, I used to buy a lot of discount bottles.
Belle-Vue Extra Framboise (2.9 %) -61.7 %
Appaling, nasty artificial sweeteners is all that I could taste here
Tripel Van De Garre – 28.8 %
Americans hyping a below average tripel. There is a bar near me that sells it under a different name, no one cares about it.
That brewery makes a lot of nearly identical beers & no one cares about them.
Highest rdev: +26.3 Peak Organic Oak Aged Mocha Stout
Lowest rdev: -73.8 CBC Bitchin' Bitter
Separate names with a comma.
