Ok, I am getting tired of logging on here and not seeing an OK beer news forum. There seem to be several posts concerning Oklahoma beer, but I would rather see them posted under one forum. I know that Oklahoma beer is growing, but we are still small enough now to keep it under one thread. I tried the Rodenbach Grand Cru...did not read the back label. I am not fond of sour beers and it confirmed that I am still not fond of sour beers. I have a Prairie Artisan Ale still sitting in my fridge, waiting on Chase's advice to let it age. I will let you know. The Great Divide Hibernation Ale is awesome, in my opinion as well as the Rumble. Please go to Grandads in OKC on 23rd Street. They have good beers (F-5, Velvet Rooster, Black Mesa) and it is a wonderful atmosphere with laid back bluegrass, rockabilly and vintage country on the sound track. No big screen TV's, but a couple of old time tube televisions to keep track of the games. Also....no smoking...but I did see vaping.
We opened about 40 bottles of Prairie Ale this weekend. I'm very happy with where it is. The Brett is starting to kick up. I'd drink it now.
Prairie Ale is excellent, the Brett was perfectly prevalent, I dig it. El Cucuy '12 is next to try. Hitting up Pint Nite (Maredsous Tripel) with the fam this evening, Cheers P.S. Got an Our Special Ale '12 & Rodenbach for my birthday, stoked to try. Thank you saramisu! Good Times!
Good, well now we know It's a more recent can, the oasis that's still at some stores just does not taste right.
If we are not getting Brux or Northern Hemisphere...and we didn't get Estate, It's doubtful that we'll be seeing this beer.
First time with Rodenbach last night; Incredible. On par with Leifmans' Goudenband. Seek. This. Shit. Out.
Freeman's had cuvée jacobins (heavenly), celebration, cheer, the Sam Adams winter stuff, the Guinness winter packs, red hook winter warmer, and probably a few other things as of tonight. Grabbed some celebration and jacobins as I doubt it will last long. Best sour I've ever had.
First, Grandads was a bunch of fun on friday. I second JPatrick's nod to check it out if youre in OKC. Second, kudos to Prairie Ales. Great job with my favorite style of beer! Cant wait to have one in a year or so. Third, I dont know any big beer nerds in OKC. Would anyone be up for a tasting? if so hit me up.
Hey guys, is that Huebert Rasenmaher Kolsch a year round beer? I've not heard of it until the Beer Championship Series. Bottles or Draft?
Anybody try the Mikkeller Amarillo Single Hop IPA? It's interesting from a home brewer perspective using a single hop and a clean malt bill really showing what the hop variety has to offer similar to SMaSH brewing. I now must brew something with Amarillo, if only the LHBS could bring some in.
I've only seen it in bottles. I'm guessing it's seasonal but not sure. Just thinking about it makes me shudder, and not in the good way.
I feel the same way. I'm only interested because a lot of people voted on it for the BCS that the Thirsty Beagle does. Who voted for it if it is so bad? I saw it at The Cellar yesterday.
Yeah I noticed that too. Maybe they had friends and family vote? I can't see someone drinking that and rating it a winner against F5, SNPA, and Arrowhead. It's impossible. I will say that the Raspberry Wheat is actually pretty good and the only beer I would buy again from the brewery.
ooo dang... Anyone else try the new Black OPA? Pretty impressive, I like it a lot more than the base beer.
Agreed, that beer really impressed & suprised me. Nice to see Choc get a heavy hand with the hops, worked well
The brew shop has limits? Never knew... After doing research, I'm intrigued with the fluctuating OPAs. Curry Spice will either be delish or disaster.
