RE: Cases of Pumpkinator.

If you find a case at an HEB without a wine/beer expert (which there were last year) you will certainly be able to purchase a case. Nothing except finances was stopping me last year... the people that tend the beer department at our HEB know exactly zilch about the product. They know it comes in and it needs to go out. On the other hand if you're visiting a flagship store (in Austin that would be places like Escarpment/41st-Red River with a large department and on-hand experts) I would expect it to be hidden in the back and limited.

As a bonus if you purchase a $100 case of beer, you'll freakin' blow the clerk's mind and they'll tell you about that one time that they bought Blue Moon and also confoundedly inform you that 30-packs of Natty Ice are on sale for $11.

I seriously got stared at like a moron when I bought 2 $10 bottles of DFH120. LOL.

I believe it's Karbach's Rodeo Clown aged in merlot barrels.

While I was at Specs the BEK rep looked up Rumpkin and it didn't show up in the system so, who knows if it's coming.

Apparently there were delays (bottling machine issues) and it just got sent to distributors within the last week, so I would expect that it should start showing up in the next couple of weeks.

I heard that they had batch issues and will not be releasing as much as usual, and that its possible that this year's won't even make it out of Colorado. I sure hope that's wrong, but who knows.

In the general forum, I believe I read it's already in the northern states.

Yeah, I saw some Minnesota people talking about it in their forum. According to the brewer, it went out to distributors on October 4. I dont know how quickly we get their stuff from when its released, and I've lost all faith in TX distributors, so its just a wait-and-see game at this point.

I heard we weren't getting any dissident or Abyss from Specs on Smith street but not sure.

If true, that's a bummer. It's been awesome getting Abyss these last couple of years. Oh well, at least I can crack one from the cellar, I suppose.

in the mountain forum the cellar master from Avery said it probably would not be distributed as they could not secure enough rum barrels and only made about half what they did last year

abyss has been a late december/early january thing here the past two years. hopefully whoever you spoke to didnt know what they were talking about.

We need Lindsey to chime in, although I heard he moved from Specs to bigger and better things.

I really hope this isn't true. I have been told by someone at Specs that Abyss is not made yearly and it rotates each year with Stoic. We know this isn't true so hopefully they just have no clue what they are talking about again.

I asked for him earlier today and they said he moved on to Duff.

Curious as to when he went to Duff. Told me he was at Specs Monday around noon.

I just picked up a 4 pack of 2012-2013 Brookyln Black Chocolate Stout at Central Market in Fort Worth.

I picked a 4 pack of this up at the HEB in Friendswood.. they still had quite a few left today when I was looking for Krunkin Pumpkin.... (today I picked up a XXIV Butte bomber...)
