To me it seems to have a fuller mouth-feel than the last batch I had. Although it's been a while, so I can't be sure. Great on tap and from the bottle.

I have done a side by side of Pliny, Heady and Citra. Citra won by a slight margin over pliny with Heady bringing up the rear. Everybody has different tastes, so my opinion doesn't matter to the next guy, but that is how I have them rated.

I'm heading out to San Francisco at the end of the month. Is it obtainable in that area?

No this is a brewery only beer. The bottles are gone now.

I'm not necessarily a huge IPA/DIPA fan, and I thought it was absolutely amazing. Missed out on bottles by about 8-10 people on friday (thanks a-hole line cutters!) but drank my fill in pints that day and it was one of the best beers I've ever tasted.

Quite simply its the best batch of CITRA ever...and not because its the most recent.

Also, it will be on tap at the SFBW Dbl IPA Fest this Saturday if your interested in trying it.

Ah-May-Zing! Better than last batch (IMO) but I still like the very first batch the best. Had it on tap day one at the brewery alongside with JO with "Mosaic Hops" on cask! Didn't know which one to get next. So I got me the Class X. I brought along a growler of Beachwoods BBQ Amalgamator IPA(w/ Mosaic Hops) for sharing. A bottle of KBS made an appearance as well. And a few other's I don't remember. Went back to the brewery for the evening (Fri) session. Had a glass of Dirty Hippie (I wish they had bottles to take home). No growler fills of Hippie. And 2 more pints of Citra before calling it quits that evening. Had it out of the bottle Sat after getting back home. During Super Bowl Sunday (2 bottles shared among family) and shared another bottle at BW SB yesterday. All said and done I have less bottles than when I left the southern Sierra's sitting in my fridge right now.

Shit moving it even just to Bakersfield would be nice. Kernville is a bitch to get to.

Anyone else have bottles from the last batch and not impressed? I got three bottles and they were all cloudy, and did not live up to my expectation. I've had Citra about 4 different times, some bottles and some on draft.

I have never had a Citra that wasn't cloudy. They don't vorlouf, so appearance isn't on their radar. But this batch did seem a little fruitier, wondering if they used some Mosaic hops in it at all.

It was very good, but not as good as Younger or Hop Venom this year. Last years Citra was better than last year's Younger, and IMO better than this year's Citra. I've only had it at GHS each year.

BP and PtE bore me to tears. I'd rather drink traded Midwest IPAs.

does citra smell like cat shit to anyone else? my girlfriend and i both smelled the very distinct smell of cat shit. it was oddly inoffensive and it was a really good beer but it really smelled like straight up cat shit. the 2 people we were with didn't get it.

Citra hops have a cat piss smell to some people. Luckily I don't get that from it. I do have smelly pee from asparagus though.

i always hear people say cat piss about ipas but i never got it until i had just outstanding. that smelled like straight up cat piss, everyone i was with agreed on that. citra, however, smelled distinctly of cat shit.

If it smelled like cat shit, I'd be at home sticking my head in the litter box.
But it doesn't, (at least to me) so I just open a bottle and enjoy it.

BP and PTE better than Zombie dust, CA kills it with their IPA's, VT only one's who can compete

If I wanted to drink the same beer for years and years, I would have stuck with Mickeys from High School.

this is nuts for me. the drive and the area and the river and the fishing and the lake are all part of the reason for me to drive up there. beer alone isn't enough.

Besides, in Bakersfield, that beer will just taste like sad and smog.

Isn't that what Lengthwise was going for in their beers? Everything I had either tasted like sad, or smog, or both.

I had a bottle from this latest batch. This wasn't the best batch by far. I like Citra a lot but I think the batch to batch variation is too much. Don't get me wrong...when it's on it's amazing.

Lengthwise is akin to BJs. More emphasis is placed on the restaurant portion than the actual brewing of beer. Sadly, the restaurant portion isnt even all that good.

Just ordered some Alpine Exponential Hoppiness, so i think i'll be forgetting all about Kern Citra as soon as it hits my palate!

^I had that at Toronado and surprisingly liked the 19/10 better. It was still pretty good!

I'm with you. It didn't have that juicy orange/rind bite like it's had in previous batches. It's great, but I would not stand in line for it when I can spend that extra time driving either down to SD to hit PP, Societe and Alpine or up to Oregon to hit Boneyard, Crux, etc.
