Dallas/Fort Worth? Really want a pint or bottle of something Goose Island to celebrate the Wildcats' win today.
Got tired of waiting. Got some 2012 BCBS and BCBCS coming in a trade. Banger's needs to negociate us a few kegs of BCBS. I'm certain by now they are they are Brown's #1 keg client (outside of Spec's) in town. That place RUNS through some beer! They've done some special tap releases with them before in the past (like the big New Belgium Lips of Faith event with 6-8 (?) vintage LoF beers on tap. That was epic.
World of Beer Stone Oak. They have Matilda on draft according to their mobile app. The Tap Exchange had Sofie at one point, but I think it blew already.
Hah, would love for this to happen. If BCBS ever makes its in to our town, I guarantee we'll get enough to provide all the BA's with their fix.
Nobi Public House had this on Facebook yesterday... 15 hours ago near Webster via mobile Goose Island Brewing will be by Nobi Public House tomorrow night @8pm sampling Matilda! Stop in and let them buy you a drink
Oh my fucking god. I just got my trade w/ BCBS in it. I don't curse much, but BCBS, where have you BEEN my entire life?! Already posted a review... but wow. Now I understand the fuss and muss. God bless cold days when I get trades that are actually at refridgerator temperature right before I'm about to hit the hay for the night. I'm not sure how BCBCS can (somehow) be better than this... but I aim to find out!
It's not much better, but it is better. I'm waiting on 2 bottles of Coffee as we speak. Have plenty of BCBS so I'm covered there. Learn to spread them out. I have enough to last a year if I don't go crazy. lol
I'm gonna start asking northern traders for at least 1 bottle per trade so I can build a small cache. LOL.
I got mine the old fashioned way. Drove to Michigan and filled the car with beer! lol I did get a bottle as an extra. Not complaining.
Just steep some coffee beans in regular BCBS for about 10 minutes as it warms up. Gives it a nice coffee flavor like BCBCS. A vanilla bean works too.
Been on this site since 2010 and never had BCBS? You have been sheltered. Coffee BCS is in my top 5 greatest beers of all time. I trade for it anytime I get the chance.
Does the booziness die down with aging? Got 8 BCBS from a buddy, but it's too hot for me fresh. Hoping it dies down over time, or I might trade it
I had my 1st one last week and it was a bit boozy at first but as it warmed up the deliciousness took over. Can't wait to get this in Tx!
The freshest BCBS I've had was three years old, and it wasn't very hot. I did have a fresh BCS Coffee recently that was a little hot, but the coffee more than made up for it.
I don't really think you can say there is a sweet spot for BCBS when each year has had their own nuances. Give me 2011 fresh any day of the year, and tastes absolutely great right now. I consider 2012 one of the worst 'fresh' batches of BCBS yet and variation exists between the different bottling dates. 2009, for example, I consider one of the most bourbon forward batches and has seen very little change in flavor over the years.
Those glasses can be found online, if you look hard enough. I actually made a Sofie clone for my ex and got her the corresponding glasses for a gift. What a bitch. The glasses are cool though. I got mine through a west coast b&m store and had to get 6 total. Can't remember the name of the store though... BK
Different Coffee every year, so it's bound to change character a bit. I've heard there is less coffee taste this year.
I'm frugal (aka cheap) and would rather find a brewery night where you buy a Matilda and get to keep the glass. I'm proud of the fact I've spent very little on beer glasses but have a nice collection. I do, however wish I had shelled out for 2 of the Three Floyds Teku glasses when I was there.
I wouldn't doubt if they do that glass with matilda one night. Or sofie maybe. I almost bought that glass last time I was at the brewpub in August.
The padded envelope was just for padding. It was in a box with other packing material. Nothing could move in the box so I'm not sure what happened. Could have frozen and burst for all I know. I've used padded envelopes as packing material before, but usually just to bad the bottoms/sides of boxes. Luckily a replacement is coming in the next week or so. Just sad that there is one less to drink.
