You are tougher than me - I'm coming down from DFW on Friday after work--thank you Priceline. And now I'm excited about the stop in West.
I was gonna skip this, but I'm getting excited. I guess I'll see how much money I have left over from my trip to Gabriel's on Friday. Plus my kid has a friends birthday party to go to and I can't stand the Dad.
Added a few things. Coming from Del Rio and haven't met any Texas BA's since moving here from Michigan 4 months ago. Looking forward to it.
I cant believe my little pink bottle of breakfast love is getting no respect. Ill have to save my reputation and sub this out at least on the Google doc list. Time to edit.
Maybe I missed it (and I'm too lazy to go back and look) but what time will the bottle share be starting? And seriously - is that too many bottles for the number who will be there?
To answer the question about what time the bottles share starts... The earliest I've ever made it there was 8am, and there were already a few bottles open on the table.
If we set the start time for this between 8 and 9 it would probably benefit all involved. For those planning to bring multiple bottles, please keep an eye on the table(s) if there are several open bottles try to wait before opening more. There is nothing worse at a tasting event than everyone leaving and there are 20 half drunk bottles still sitting on the table. There will always be more tastings to share at. If you really have that much beer that you feel the need to get rid of some of it, just start your own LIF and spread the love!! Cheers... see all of you Saturday, John
If you've got your bottles to share in a cooler, is it best to leave them in your vehicle until you open them, or would Freetail allow you to bring them on the patio? I seem to remember at the Woodicus/Bandito release that some had their small coolers behindthe small iron fence and would grab them as needed. PS. This is really shaping up to be a KICKASS event!
No problem bringing a cooler onto the patio, just remember to get it when you leave. After several hours of drinking, it gets easy to forget stuff (Hill Farmstead glass...).
If there is a BA coming from the Houston area please start a convo with me. I'd love to work out a deal for some Southern Star Pro-Am cans if they're still available. Edit - I'll go searching around Austin tomorrow...
Its all over Austin as well. So, between 8-9 is the gist I'm getting? Just trying to figure out how early I'll have to leave Austin to get there in time.
I believe Gabriels, just down the street from Freetail, has some left. Specs DeZavala had alot last time I was there as well.
I wasn't trying to set a start time but it seems like we have all been dancing around what time we will all show up. Between 8 and 9 seems early enough.
I just figured people didn't want to tip their hand as to what time they planned to arrive in an attempt to avoid being number 61 in line. lol. Much earlier than 8-9 and most won't be standing by the time the doors open. I think I've arrived closer to 9 on the past few bottle releases/shares and there's been maybe 15-20 people there.
I'll be there, just confirmed today. Looking forward to it! Now I"m just looking for someone from DFW to carpool with. I'll be there regardless.
When ive been to la muerta tastings, i usually got there around 915 and still got about 35 to 40 ish in line. But thats also a bigger bottle release usually i think. But then again, more flavors are on sale for this one so, moot point maybe ?
But keep in mind that this is a sour release, something that may not be most people's cup of tea (or beer).
I'm looking at staying at the TownePlace Suites by Huebner/I-10 or the Fairfield Inn by 281/1604 loop. Anyone planning on going to the bottle share around 8am passing by either of these places that could give me a ride in? I don't have a car and my friend is dropping me off at either of these hotels the night before. I have a ride back, just need one there. Just send me a PM. Thanks!
Confirmed me and the lady will be there whenever we get there. Bringing a Beer Geek and an FBS (sorry an '11, still waiting on my '12's) I'll try to add them to the list tommorow in case anyone else wants to bring some coffee beers for the early morning peeps. And a dozen or so various kolaches (BM if you want something specific, I'll try to accommodate).
I still haven't fully decided what I'm bringing but we will be making some doughnut holes (or "tim bits" if you're from that region) for everybody.
