Did any MN BAs hit up the France 44 cellar sale this morning? I would love to know if you scored some whales, and I'm wondering if a BA won the RARE!
I was there. No real whales, but a lot of great stuff. Lots of vintage bcbs, cherry rye, bcbcs, KBS, blacknote, Westy 12, abyss 3 year verticals, black ops, etc. At noon they tapped a darkness keg and sold '10, 11, 12 darkness and some other surly anniversarys They raffled 2 bottles of rare
I know one of the Rares went to a guy who seemed confused as to what he was getting, not sure about the other one.
ya i talked to that guy. he had no idea what rare was, but he likes bourbon county and loves pappy. so, im guessing he will enjoy it
Good grief! I hope he didn't just crack it right there like a guy did at Darkness day... At least in yesterday's case there wasn't rare on tap 20 feet away.
No insult intended. I just prefer to keep my fresh bottles capped when I can get it on tap at the brewery. To each their own.
I agree with everyone else's sentiment on this one. That guy deserves it as much as anyone else. When I got into this hobby, the second release I ever went to was for Flossmoor's Killer Kapowski where I won a raffle and was able to buy a Wooden Hell. I cracked it the next day. I had no idea how rare it was, I didn't even really know what a barleywine was, but I sure as hell enjoyed it.
Yeah, I talked to him too. He was a really nice guy, clearly didn't have ANY idea what he had. Thought about making him an offer, but I don't think money was really an issue for him. I think he happened to be there and grabbed some Darkness. Probably didn't know he was even in the raffle. On a side note...One guy bought a 2010 and 2011 Utopias, plus whatever else he saw sitting around. A woman who I THINK was with him asked what I would take for my 2010 Darkness. I kindly declined even getting into that. All in all, I dug the event. It felt a bit like a game/race during the 9AM release. Fun.
