I've been wanting to try this for a while but too lazy until now.

This thread is in the intent of containing most if not all things relating to Jester King. In the attempt to make it easier for Jeff, Ron, and crew to keep up with us. Also, to have a general thread so we don't need to have 3 threads about the rodeo series, muitiple thread threads about other releases, etc...

I'll start by saying the complaints so far about their beers... Carbonation, consistency, releases for Texas folks, price points, etc... are completely pointless. These guys are brewing the kind of beer they want to drink and sharing with the rest of us. They have no intentions of dropping quality to appease the general public and they're producing great beers even though they're still in their infancy as a brewery. If you don't like it, oh well... They're are people lined up to buy most of their beers if you don't want to.

I'm eagerly awaiting funk metal and tons of other things coming in the future. Even though they're on the map I think beers like funk metal will continue to establish Jester King as a major player in the brewing world. It's a ways off but after drinkn the sun belt and the rodeo series I can't wait to see the next mikkeller collab.

Just keep Le Petit Prince, Noble King, and Mad Meg in constant supply for Houston and I am happy. Don't care about the rest:D;)

I was pleasantly surprised and proud to see the JK stuff in the LA/Redondo Beach area. I had no idea that they were making it that far...

i wish they would get better distribution to south texas. they come as south as Mcallen but they charge 25 bucks a bottle for petit prince.

that's my only complaint. i LOVE every beer (that i have had). i hope to get to taste more but i have to travel atleast 5 hours to get anything.

Where the hell are you buying this beer?! And why are you willing to get ripped off? It's a $8 beer!

And why, again, do we need another JK thread? The other 30 not doing it for ya...?

I wouldn't expect this thread to get rid of all the other jk threads but I'm hoping to at least somewhat reduce the number of repeat threads. Most of the other forums I've been a part of do something similar with pretty good success.

This helps the brewer, manufacturer, or vendor to not have to sift through so many if they want to give responses for our questions. It also helps to keep a good reference for all the questions that have already been answered.

As an active poster I would like to only have keep up with one thread to get most of my info. For newer posters its much easier to read through one thread to get up to date on things as opposed to reading through the 30 threads that we have.

Thats crazy. But look on the bright side at least it made to shelves in your area. Gas plus bottle price is about $90 for me. I see tremendous savings when I buy more than one though.

Problem: Too many JK threads... Solution: Make another JK thread

Dude, I promise you this ONE thread isn't gonna prevent more threads from popping up everytime a... 1) new release comes out, 2) JK event is scheduled, 3) BA is searching for JK sightings/pricing, 4) an issue with whatever JK "beerofthemonth" comes up(like a $25 Le Petit).

It's the natural progression of forums, unfortunately. Members(and it's usually always newer ones) don't take the time to search through multiple pages of a single thread when they can easily click the "Post New Thread" button and get quick info. Humans are lazy that way. I mean I dig your intent, but even this thread will eventually get buried in with thousands of others.

*I know... the fact that Jeff "liked" your post/idea should probably make my point moot... but yeah, it really doesn't.

Honestly, I would much rather see multiple JK threads with specific intent, than have to sift through 25 pages and 40 side conversations to find out which heb it was that got a case of weasel.

I really don't expect that there would only be one thread but an effort by the contributing forum members to help reduce the number of threads isn't such a terrible idea. The thread title isn't meant to say that everything for Jester King has to be in this thread. It's to catch people's attention to look here for the majority of info needed. Again, I've seen success with the idea on other sites. Not too sure how well it would work over here.

If you don't like the idea then you don't have to try to contribute.

So this is a JK butt kissing thread? I can see not wanting people trashing them, but constructive criticism shouldn't be frowned upon. Things like quality and issues should definitely be brought to the brewery's attention. If we exclude those things this will just be a fanboy thread.

The complaints I mentioned above have all been voiced and received answers from the jk crew. So bitching about the same stuff over and over is pointless. I'll agree that they're not perfect. I think boxers would be better with more carbonation. Even batch 2 doesn't have as much as I'd like. Their beers are expensive so I only buy the ones I like. On top of that some retailers take advantage of the limited supply and rip people off with their prices.

Jk does a lot for beers drinkers in Texas and some complaints can be a slap in the face for them. Not trying to kiss ass just trying to open a good line for communication. If you have a decent complaint feel free to voice it.

I do like the idea. But your points are valid. The number of threads and posts recently jumped to a number greater than we can reasonably read and respond to if necessary. I (and/or Ron Extract from JK) will do some reading tomorrow and post some replies if needed.

My comments were not to say anything bad about JK. I think they were our states first truly progressive brewery and have made Texas' brewers realize that they can think outside the box. I applaud this as it has lead to a new era in craft beer in the state.

All of the hard work fighting "the man" is awesome and much appreciated.

Does anyone know if JK has plans of 6 or 4 packs at anytime in the future? I checked the website but didn't see anything. 4 packs would be AWESOME!!!!!!

They'd probably have to invest in bottling/canning line equipment.

I think this might be good though as it'd potentially lower the price points of their year round beers.

    Jeff,

I think it's cool you are on these message boards reading what other say about your beer. I'll be honest, I haven't had any JK beers, but I think it's awesome that you guys post in the forums. Where are the folks from Real Ale :-(

PS: I did buy a bottle of Whiskey Rodeo, so that will be my first Jester King experience.

Buy a bottle of Weasel Rodeo. It's always cool to try a base beer before the barrel aged version. ;)

Well, don't think they bottle the base beer, which would be the Oatmeal Stout. The Weasel and Whiskey have different types of coffee in them. Weasel having no "weasel coffee" and whiskey having it.

Im not sure about that for the Weasel Rodeo says on the label brewed with "Kopi Luwak" which is "weasel coffee", hence the name Weasel Rodeo.

You will love the Whiskey. It's simply outstanding.

I just finished a bottle of Weasel. Very very little carb...had a cask feel to it. Beer Geek was the most chili forward, Weasel lead with the coffee flavor, and Whiskey was well whiskey excellence. If you only had the chance for 1, you chose the best.

hmm this is the first I have herd about this, and a lil disappointing to say the least. Not for the fact that Weasel Rodeo didnt actually have any kopi luwak/weasel coffee in it, but for the fact that it didnt have any weasel coffee in it even though the label says it does. (JK better release a second batch quick!)

    Strike 2 on Weasel Rodeo!

Beer Geek Rodeo = vietnamese coffee
Weasel Rodeo = real weasel coffee
Whiskey Rodeo = A mix of real weasel coffe and other vietnamese coffee

    Per labels on the website.

The blog post was before they figured how they were going to rename the series due to the coffee differences.
