Just picked up my first bottle of this years Drake's Hopocalypse at a Bevmo in NorCal. By far it is one of my favorite double IPAs and just wondering how far Drake's distribution goes away from the Bay area? For those that have never had it, I would argue that it tastes like a cross between Lagunitas Sucks and SN Hoptimum. My new favorite! Anyone else grabbed it this year? How does the Black Label version taste in comparison?

I much prefer regular, green label Hopacalypse to the black label version. Both are stellar versions, but like a slower death by hops.

I've seen the non-black label in SD (last year.)
I assume it'll make it down at some point.

The white label is my favorite beer by Drake's. Had it side-by-side with black label last Friday and it is awesome this year.

From what I've heard from almost everyone, you made the right choice. (I haven't had black label but have heard almost exclusively bad things.)

Got a couple white labels at the release party a few weeks ago. Without a doubt my favorite Drakes beer to date. I haven't had the black though.

Black is the shit but almost impossible to find. Bottles sell out within hours of release and I don't believe they distribute bottles. Though if anyone gets it it would be Beer Revo.

Walnut Creek Whole Foods has a handful of them but that's hefty gas consumption for the grog. Whole Foods seems to always be a good bet but depends on the Beer Guy's ordering.

Even in SAC WF is a bit of a hike for me.Maybe I'm just a bit lazy. But the more I hear maybe a trip to Davis would be better for me.

Got mine at Whole Foods in Redwood City. It drank like a mixture between Pliny and Sucks. So good.

I had one last night. Smelled great, tasted great, but what a buzz. Drake's is a solid brewery.

We had more black label tonight. Cold, it's damn boozy. As it warms up, it becomes a lot smoother but the hop profile is spicy and not my cup of tea.

    Still prefer the white label.

So much this. I wish I didn't have so much beer already, or I'd buy a growler / case of White Label.

Made it's appearance at WF's yesterday. Got a few bottles of this hoplicious delight. Hope it'll show up at some of my local stores. Still haven't seen this on tap anywhere in OC area.

Struggling with this one. LOVED Aroma Coma. But am finding this one too sweet and malty.

Did they only do one bottling run of this? If so, these might be starting to fade already.
