Had a bottle of angels share that I recently opened that had no carbonation and tasted horrible. Evidentally the brew had spoiled as air had escaped resulting in this flat rancid taste. I kept this bottle upright for almost a year but am wondering whether or not this bottle should of horizontally stored like wine bottles. Has anybody else run into this problem with corks? Do you store corked bottles differently? Is there a difference between using a cork for beer as opposed to a cap?

Ive heard to cellar corked beers on their side to keep the cork from drying out. I am not sure that if that is true or not, It does make sense though.

Certain vintages of Angels Share have known carbonation issues so I don't think your storage had anything to do with it. As far as upright vs. side for long term aging, there are plenty of threads and differing opinions if you search the forums.
