Yes unless something pops up/someone seriously objects 3:30 it is. I have been talking with Jaimie and she said anytime is fine. I know that in the past she asked us to be done earlier but this time she said we could hang til around close if we wanted to.
I'll be there. Sucaba and homebrew IPA plus small card table and 4 folding chairs. I may bring a surprise beer as well. And I'll try and buy something if I can. I hope
Hey all, I haven't been too active on here as of late but would like to attend if there is a spot. I perused my stash and here are some options if anyone has strong feelings about any of them: 2011 Boulevard Saison Brett 2012 Boulevard Rye On Rye Boulevard Nommo Dubbel Lost Abbey Lost & Found 2009 Lost Abbey Gift Of The Magi Anchorage The Tide & Its Takers 2010 Jackie O's Bourbon Barrel Matriarch Frog Island Devin In The Details New Albany Solidarity Ska Nefarious Ten Pin Imperial Porter Old Schoolhouse Imperial Stout Cheers! Micah
You're more than welcome to come. I think it goes without saying that any of those would be welcome. Fwiw I would love to have some Rye on Rye (my favorite Boulevard offering to date). Saison Brett would be very welcome too. I'm also curious about The Tide and its Takers... is that just an Alaskan saying or something? It's also the name of a 36 Crazyfists album (metal group from AK).
Sounds good! The Tide & Its Takers is a Tripel aged in Chardonnay barrels from Anchorage Brewing in AK, so it must be a tribute to that album(?). I will bring one or 2 of the ones you mentioned!
So I was supposed to attend a tasting last night but wasn't able to make it. I was going to bring something special to that, but I think I'll share it with you guys! I'll keep it a secret . I'll bring the Swamp Head/Cigar City Roosevelt and this mystery beer. Plus maybe another one (just in case).
Last night, eh? Way to make us feel left out! J/k Anyways, mystery beer is always fun... bring it on.
haha, I would have loved to get a bunch of BAs there but it wasn't not really my place to invite others to it.
I'm not entirely certain what I'll bring tomorrow. Maybe you guys can help me narrow it down? I'm thinking 1 22oz and maybe 1-2 12oz bottles. 2011 Abyss 2011 Parabola 2012 KBS 2011 BCBS New Glarus Cherry Stout Zombie Dust Half Acre Daisy Cutter Thoughts?
Small chance that my noob-self and noob brother-in-law might be able to attend. Never been to anything like this... All I would have to contribute are 2 bottles of Pliny the Elder that are only a couple weeks old, and/or the most recent bottle releases from Jackie O's (Baklava Braggot, Kentucky Monk, Vanilla Bean Rum Barrel Dark Apparition), and/or Founders Better Half. If we were able to make it, would any of this be enough to participate?
I personally would love to try the Parabola and either Abyss or BCBS! Just my $0.02 Jackie O's and 750ml Founders are always welcome, trust me. But honestly, bring whatever you want! This is about getting together and drinking good beer, not a bunch of people trying to outdo one another in terms of rare beers.
Any of those are great options. I for one loved Parabola last year and would love to have it again. That said, I have never had Daisy Cutter and only had about 1oz of ZD before so those I think I would be equally happy to see. Anything New Glarus is always tasty too, so yeah, just bring whatever. I missed out on the last round of Jackie O's beers so any of those sound good to me. I doubt anyone would object to Pliny either though, so as stated above, just bring whatever, it's all good.
I haven't attended a BA event like this before but would like to stop by. Was just in Asheville and picked up some NC beers I could bring (e.g., Olde Hickory Daniel Boone). I also picked up Terrapin's Anniversary Ale and Phlux Capacitor, if anyone is interested. I could also bring other beers, if those don't intrigue the group. AleGuy (a.k.a., Kurt)
BCBS and Zombie Dust ftw. I'm bringing the beers I said I was, plus a mystery beer. The only hints I'll give is it's from Michigan, and it's a very, very odd (yet quite tasty) beer.
How about putting up an avatar next? Huh? Huh? Think you can be all lazy b/c you're a cop?!? Ohh, btw, everyone freak out b/c Brad here is a cop. He'll bust us all for public intoxication and serving beer without a liquor license if we show up tomorrow... so, yeah... Edit - before someone goes apeshit... I'll add this:
Have any other BAs had a beer tasting that ended up with everyone going to jail? Because we may be breaking new ground here!
I will neither confirm, nor deny, that this is the correct answer. I will say it's an odd variant of a classic style. I like it, I think it's a fantastic beer, but that may or may not be the case with everyone else.
Looks like I'll be in attendance tomorrow. I'm not very active on here, but I believe I've met a few of you at past Jackie O's releases. I'm thinking of bringing a Funkwerks Dark Prophet or Tropic King and probably one other. Looking forward to it! Cheers!
I'll see everyone there, hopefully everyone brings their drinking pants, there's going to be a lot of stuff to drink
Are you saying that we're all invited to a pants party? And here I was planning on no pants at all...
Good hanging out and drinking with you all! Here's the damage: Also, it'd be awesome if people could tell me who you are so we can put a face to a username. Just so you know who I am, I'm Max (obviously), I'm the one that brought the Vanilla Dark Lord and the Roosevelt.
Thanks for bringing that Dark Lord, it's certainly far better than the regular Dark Lord, gives me hope that they might make a base batch that doesn't suck. I'm Kef, and I brought the Charkoota, homebrewed IPA, and Sucaba. And honestly, the biggest surprises to me were the Colossus and the Daisy Cutter. That's not a pale ale, just saying.
Thank you to everyone for sharing what you did, certainly the Vanilla Dark Lord was most appreciated. I was very impressed by the homebrews, good work gentleman. I brought the Parabola, Daisy Cutter, and the Zombie Dust. It was a treat to meet everyone. I look forward to the next one, with hopefully less Ghost Chili beers.
I was the last one out last night and there were a few things left behind... LOST: Someone left their Alefest glass on the store table near the window. There was a black cooler (soft) bag that was left against the shelves/wall. Inside was a bottle of beer. We really wanted to drink this upon seeing it, but I decided that the owner might never return to another tasting if we did! In any case, I left both with the store. I hope the owners see this if they haven't already realized what was left behind. Unclaimed items will be split between Jaimie and myself two weeks from now! J/k... maybe...
Lol, yes I was the brilliant one who left the cooler. I already got it earlier today. Im sure Kevin's glad you didn't drink his bottle (brought it for a trade). I had a great time and it was nice to put some faces to local BAs. Maybe next time I will bring the mystery beer to share since you graciously didn't give into temptation. -Andy (red osu cap)
Yeah we saw "STAFF Evelyn" and about shit our pants that it was left behind. Brad gave me a taste of that beer out of the barrel last summer and it was shaping up to be something special. Glad the beer's back in good hands though!
Thanks for the kind words. I've already come to a conclusion that I'm going to rebrew the IPA, as I love how it turned out. I'm going to reiterate this, but Daisy Cutter is NOT a pale ale. I don't care what Half Acre says, it's a damn IPA
Im the prick who cracked open oude tart after ghost scorpion. Though it was refrshing after that, should have waited but shoulda coulda woulda.. had a blast, thanks everyone for being so unselfish and sharing awesome brews! (Big shout out to max fir checking vanilla dl off my bucket list!!)
Everything should have waited after the scorpion. Sadly Seth doesn't do BA anymore so we can't publicly rip on him for opening that blasphemous beer so early on in the day.
Graves here. I was in the yellow South Africa soccer jersey with the Cigar City Dos Costas Oeste. Thanks everyone for such generosity. I had a great time. I look forward to seeing some of you fine gentlemen down in Athens on the 30th for OH Beer Week shenanigans.
Oh, we could, he just couldn't defend himself. I think everyone who had that beer would relish the opportunity to damn him to the deepest circle of hell for the hell that beer caused their palates.
I am Micah (Dogbrick) and I brought the Anchorage, Boulevard Nommo and a couple of the old OH Brewer collab beers. I am also the one who tried to warn people about Ghost Scorpion: http://www.ohio.com/news/top-stories/columbus-brewery-offers-up-hot-beer-1.272981 Nice to meet everyone and thanks!
BTW - anyone who's into this sort of thing, please check out my home brewery pages. I'm on Facebook (please like) and Untapped (check in a beer - ratings entirely optional). It's just me trying to play around with branding myself a bit. I had Kolsch, IPA, Mild, and Galaxy Pale at the tasting. My home-brewery name is Blind Pirate Brewing.
