    I've had a couple of questions around the definition of 'locals'. Loosely defined it's any beer you have access to that your target does not. Tightly defined it's stuff from your state and/or neighboring states. (For example, I live in Mass and consider anything from New England to be my "locals") For the purposes of this BIF, it's all good. Showcase your region, but if your target has something on his wants that you get distribution for even if it's not a true 'local', it's totally fine.

    Here is a really handy spreadsheet of the distribution by brewery by State:
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ap6d1DIcENXqdHgwd3ZNeTJBellDWFpuQTRKR0FiekE#gid=0

    Check that repeatedly - one of the more unfortunate faux pas' of BIFs is to give the target something he could just drive to his local store and pick up. It occasionally happens by accident, but if you check the spreadsheet you can avoid it.

    Here's another fun site. http://www.seekabrew.com/

    It allows you to compare distribution and tells you which ones they share or don't.

    So, I am really new to this website...or at least I'm new to being active on it....how do you find peoples gots and wants? Is it in their profile?

    Replace {BA Name} with your target's BA name and go to this URL: http://beeradvocate.com/user/beers?ba={BA Name}

    It's normally much more accessible and intuitive (a link on the profile, like you thought), but we're in the midst of a major site overhaul. It'll be over before we know it.

    Yep - for example here is my wants:
    http://beeradvocate.com/user/beers?ba=cbeer88&view=W

    I noticed some of you don't even have any wants. It's fine for the purposes of this BIF, but going forward if you're going to get involved in trading and/or other BIFs, you will need to start filling out your wants.

    It's pretty easy, and a great place to start is just running through the Popular and Fame Top 100 list and adding anything that you fancy:
    http://beeradvocate.com/lists/popular
    http://beeradvocate.com/lists/fame

    Many of the beers on there are relatively easy to come by, particularly on the Fame list.

    Or if you have favorite styles, just go to the Top Beers for that style. Example:
