From Cantillon's Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Brasserie-Cantillon/110627652322553): Smells like Framboos all over again...
So if this is just brewed for Akkurat, I'm guessing it will be even more difficult to find than Blabaer?
Really good question. Isn't it actually illegal for Akkurat to sell to-go? There won't be dozens of bottles in the US because of people going over and bringing them back, it'll still be a trickle.
Probably cloudberries seeing as how the words right above the picture say "Soleil de Minuit aka Cloudberry Lambic"
I honor of this I'm seriously thinking of brewing my own cloudberry lambic. Where the hell can I find cloudberries?
Anymore news on this? I'm heading to Europe this winter...here's to hoping the release coincides. I just want to try it
http://www.fruitipedia.com/cloudberry_rubus_chameomorus.htm But seriously, I think they might be difficult to get ahold of. Don't quote me on that though...
No I will quote you on that. After posting I started to look into finding cloudberries and your right I've got a better chance of finding a sky bush then cloudberries. I got a really nice sour I going that I wanna add to some fruit, might just go with blueberries. Was also looking for some arctic raspberries, just as non existent as cloudberries. I did find one place in Russia, but had a minimum order of 50 kilos, anyone wanna go in on a group buy? If anyone does know where to get either of those berries I'm all ears and would send you one once bottled. I was thinking that I could possibly use cloudberry jam as I read somewhere they could be preserved without any additives, so that could potentially work, but couldn't even find the jam.
Yeah, kind of sounds like you either need to climb a mountain or travel to the edge of the artic circle to get these things. Has anyone tasted a cloudberry before or had cloudberry pie? I pick wild blueberries every summer and that's hard enough (they are about the size of pea).
Stene at Akkurat reported that some bottles might be shipped over to selected friends (read pubs) around the world for consumption. So if you're in luck you won't have to travel to taste it.
Thanks your insight on newfoundland landed me a website that sells cloudberries in 500ml jars, they are jarred with no additives just cloudberries, perfect. If all works out the way I plan I'll send one your way
Ikea used to sell a Cloudberry jam....i haven't been in an Ikea in years but you could check...maybe you could use that... I knew a lady who grew in on Long island when i was a kid but i never ate any. I think it grows in various part so f the US (the colder parts). I feel like i saw it in Iceland too...but there were so many weird/awesome berries there i can't recall for sure... oh well maybe this place: http://www.igourmet.com/shoppe/Wild-Cloudberry-Preserves.asp and this place in Canada: http://www.milbreeviking.com/deli/frozen_berries/
I could talk to my saleperson friend at a reallllly dope chicago produce company. If I can get, say, a case or two, would gladly send some out. BM me tmw to remind me, it's 2012 stout night.
Isnt Ikea a Swedish company? If so, it makes sense that they would also have cloudberry access since Akkurat is in Sweden.
