Waste of money. Brew three 5gal. batches of your own shit and do five 1gal. "one-offs" from each batch. It'll cost about $75.00 in total, you'll have fifteen different beers and about six cases worth of them to drink. Rare personified.
I am excited for you. You don't seem like the kinda guy who goes through all this just for us to see 1 week later: FT: Rare ISO: Yellow Bus, DDG, Dave Interested to see how you feel about it
wow i called that guy when i was up north and he said they still had them but you had to spend $100-$150 on other beer before you could even buy it... typical NYC bullshit
Nah, Rico's a good dude. And i have spent more than $150 at his store. Bought my first case BCBS here in October. I love the ethniticity of NYC, years ago had a client in Yonkers, always enjoyed going there to work.
I, also, had one last weekend. Is it different than it was fresh? Yes. Is it falling off? Not in my opinion.
When does an 09 BCBS + a 12 Cherry Rye + '12 BCBS x2 = 1 Rare? Answer: When someone with a Rare asks me!
Weird question: What's the bottle cap on Rare look like? Is it just a black cap or is there some sort of design on it like the current BCBS's have?
I'd pay $75 on a shelf probably.... however I did pass up $100. Trading closer to $4$ Still ISO if anyone doesn't want theirs
Agreed. Here in St. Louis it was a big deal before it was released. I was actually fortunate to find a shelf Rare because somebody had reserved it and the scoffed at the $50 tag. I picked it up in a heartbeat. My greatest whale pick-up.
Ah...I couldn't tell by some of the posts on here. Thought there may actually still be some around out there (albeit for ridiculous prices I was certain).
Actually, it does pop up now and then. I have seen it twice in the last two years. Once at a Goose Island Tap Takeover. It was $100.
To get some Rare you're going to need some KY, and yes, you should spread wide. At least on the trade boards.
