I tried this beer and loved it! But I don't know to much about it. Somebody here has to be an expert on this beer, its so good. I'm looking for some sort of definitive guide to help me learn more. How many years was it made, what ones are the good ones, and so on. I heard their are flavors too?!? Experts, please help!
Regular: 05-12 sold in 12 oz bottles 09 also had bombers 03 had a release, but not a traditional one. Flavors: 10 saw vanilla and coffee bombers, and rare too 11 saw bramble and coffee bombers 12 saw cherry rye and coffee bombers. Edit: my favorite of all time was the rare. Followed by coffee 12 and vanilla. Regular is world class by itself though
they're ALL good ones. every single bleeping one of them. Apparently, the original bcbs will be available continually as of this June, if all goes according to their plans.
Damn, I'm jealous. I reeeeaaalllyyy wanted to try this, but I couldn't find a single bottle here in AZ.
IF BCBS is available year round, and is of the same quality that is produced seasonally, its all over for me. I could drink cases of that with growlers of local Cape May Centennial IPA for the rest of my life.
Bourbon County is to BA stouts as Pliny the Elder is to DIPAs. It's the standard and all others are judged in comparison to it. At least IMO.
I'm anxious to see how regular the availability will be...and how regular availability will impact sales of $25 4-packs. I could see myself putting off the purchase in perpetuity if I know it'll always be there...but how cool would it be to be able to snap up a bottle or a 4-pack or a case at will? Sometimes nothing else will do...and it would be nice to just be able to grab it whenever the mood strikes.
You're on the wrong site man, the vast majority of BA's will gladly buy BCBS and any of it's variants. To the OP: The beer you had is Bourbon County Brand Stout. It is indeed excellent. You are correct when you say that it comes in "flavors," as there is a cherry version, a vanilla version and a coffee version (there's another called "Rare" as well, not sure why that one is special though). The company that owns the beer is Anheuser Bush/Inbev, the same company that makes Bud Light. For the majority of folks on this site, that's not a problem. A minority of folks on this site do refuse to buy it however, as they don't wish to support AB/inbev.
The "special" thing about Rare is that it was really limited and aged in Van Winkle barrels for 2 years. And they're never planning on making it again.
It was 2008 BCBS aged 2 years rather than 1 year and they used 23 Year Pappy Van Winkle barrels. On another note, am I the only one who would just check Goose Island's BA page as an answer to this question? I mean, they're all listed right there.
I spotted a pair of BCBCSs on a shelf today...but I'm all tied up in the trade game...so I had to walk away...here's hoping that the general public remains blissfully ignorant for another few weeks so I can drink dem sumbitchez.
Also, you must know acromymns! BCBS - Bourbon County Brand Stout BCBCS - Bourbon County Brand Coffee Stout BCBVS - " " " Vanilla
had it on tap at Mount Snow, first time I saw it on tap (never saw it in a bottle either). Pretty awesome on tap. What else do you need to know other than you tried and liked it and maybe where can you get some more?
