Just picked up 2 at specs (Weslayn & Bissonnet) had 5 left and this was 15 min ago. I tried it at the brewery this last saturday on the tour, had a sneak peak preview for those who know people at the brewery. Easy to drink, lighter than the hopadillo, yet strong like the rodeo clown.
@ $14... this is still the cheapest Texas barrel-aged beer. I don't know what y'all expected. (512) WBADPP - $18 Whiskey Rodeo - $18 Boxer's Revenge - $15
Yeah. I bought some because I was curious. How do you guys think it will hold with age? Never heard of a BA IPA
If it's 9.5% ABV like Rodeo Clown, I wouldn't... not big enough to age any more without losing something, IMHO.
Just found about 2 cases at market street heb in the woodlands. I got my two, but there is no sign on a limit so who knows how long they will last. To avoid getting this thread locked i won't say a price, but they are cheaper than specs.
Bigfoot is 9.6%. It can hold up for many many years. Not comparing these beers or anything, but 9%+ ABV is plenty hold up to at least a few years.
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/357/63910 First one that comes to mind because I've wanted to try it for a while now. Heard it wasn't worth bending over backwards for, though; I'm told the hops were dead, and the tequila didn't really mix well.
My thoughts exactly! I think this is a good candidate for aging. I'll be drinking one fresh, and holding onto one for awhile. I enjoyed this when it was on cask at Hay Merchant. I'm a huge fanboy of Karbach and it is just great to already see them pumping out some solid barrel aged beers.
I wish I could run around and get a bottle of this, but I am a little less than mobile today with a messed up ankle. I'll catch the next limited release!
Why are you afraid of posting a price? You aren't advertising for HEB, you're helping the rest of us out that are potentially on the hunt.
Why? It's not like any Texas retailers advertise here or we can receive mail order beer. Don't believe as a third party non-retailer there's any harm.
My cousin thinks he got the last bottle at the Specs on Mason Road. He's going to be nice and drink it sometime when I'm up in Katy, so I can try it as I had no time to chase today.
He said Specs.. but the big one on Mason is where he always goes... so I'm sure that's it.. he sent me a pic of the bottle.
Picked up a bottle on Mason. Then headed to the Cinco Ranch Specs and they may get a case tomorrow. They did have 17 bottles of 120 on the shelf.
FWIW this is a barrel aged beer, which means it has already been aged. Also, you really cant compare a Barleywine (and a damn fucking good one) like Bigfoot being 9.6% to an Imperial IPA when it comes to aging. Drink this beer fresh, it will change with time, but maybe not the way you expect. If you want a big boozy Barleywine, Old Ruffian, Bigfoot, Sisyphus are all on the shelves at Specs around town for less than $14. I should note that I recently drank a bottle of Hoptimum with 5+ months on it and I freaking loved it, I never intended on aging it, but it got hidden in the back of my fridge.
I had a glass of 2005 Celebration Ale a few months back, just a bunch of malty sweetness awesomeness.
This beer just needs to be drank. I don't see how this could get any better than it is right now. Stellar release from Karbach.
I bought 6. Nom nom nom. I still have 2-3 left, I should probably get to drinkin' those, lol. I keep sending them to my dad in Florida because he thinks that beer is the bee's knees and I've only drank one myself. Hrm... perhaps I'm misremembering the price of WBADPP because I bought 2 bottles at Whole Foods Downtown.
Damn! 6 with that price tag! You crazy man, YOU SO CRAZY! I'll open one of mine this weekend. Although I've heard that it is Heavenly from some of my beer snob buddies.
Karbach will have it at Beerfeast this weekend at sugar land flying saucer... So I'll get to try it there.
