    Hey Guys,

I was wondering how you can telll what year a bottle of BT is? I have gotten a bunch via trade and obviously am assuming all are 2011, but just curious for future reference on how you can tell? All my bottles seem to look the same which would make sense if they are all 2011 but just for curiosity sake I was wondering if there is a difference between 2011 and 2010. Let me know, thanks!

This should be posted somewhere easy to find. It gets brought up a lot.

    2009 Batch: 19.5% ABV
    2010 Batch: 18.2% ABV
    2011 Batch: 18.3% ABV

The die cuts for the label are different with each year as well but I've never seen a guide for those.

I think someone posted a picture of all three of them side by side, I'll try to find it.

EDIT: Either that or I can just take the picture and post it myself when I get home from work

Thanks guys! Good to know that the ABV is easiest thing to notice. Looking forward to that picture though.

So the labels are also slightly different shapes as well as different shading/colors. L-R, '09, '10, '11.

Thanks a lot Mark! Would be so much easier if they put a damn date on it lol.

Anyone else wish they didn't use the mischief label die for Black Tuesday this past year? I personally think the die for the 2009 was the coolest.

I wish they would just put years on the bottles. Example, how are you supposed to tell the difference in years of melange 3? I only know difference between '12 and '11 because of slightly different color wax.

You know the greatest thing about this thread? Even though I've had them all at various points I've never noticed the differences in the labels! From now on I'm just going to MS Draw the label when someone asks for the year code

That's what silver sharpies are for!

Also I think they're starting to do this more generally. Sour in the Rye has a date this year, and I don't believe it did before.
