Wether the beer is highly rated or not, I've had a few beers that I didn't think would be to good, only to be pleasantly surpised. For me it was Guinness Foreign Extra Stout Saranac Blood Orange Porter All the Long Trail Brewmaster Series Magic Hat Burnpile
Good call on the Long Trail Brewmaster series, I have loved that stuff as well. Bitburger. Didn't expect much, but it was awesome! Perfect "lawn-mower" type beer, especially out of a 16 oz. can!
Michelob Dunkel Weizen. It's absolutely killer. It's the best dunkel weizen I've ever had, and I've had alot. Oh, and it's usually only $6.99/6'er when you can find it.
It's kind of funny, I guess, but I didn't have low expectations when I bought some from an online store. Maybe it was because I used to live in CT?
I expected to hate Festina Peche (usually very skeptical of most DFH beers) and as a result, I avoided it for quite a while. Tried it on tap and ended up really enjoying it.
I received an extra - Columbus IPA last year. I am originally from Ohio and thought this will be a quick taste and pour. I did not look at BA on it. When I tasted I was very shocked. I actually have since traded for it. Brewery only I believe.... http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/341/33215
This just entered Wisconsin in the last 8 months or so and damn, talk about the best shitty beer ever. I like to think it's what Ward Cleaver would've drank. And +1 to boobies.
Green Flash Saison Diego Captain Lawrence Saison Captain Lawrence Brown Bird Ale CCB Maduro Oatmeal Brown Ale
Hop Henge Experimental IPA. Not that my expectations were super low, but this one definitely well-surpassed my expectations. A really tasty beer.
Old Forge Overbite IPA for those in PA. Floored by how much I liked it. And, about $10 for a 6'er of 16 oz cans. Reminds me of Torpedo. Great Value.
Clown Shoes Blaecorn Unidragon and Clown Shoes Pimp. My friend drinks a lot of their beers, and I've just never been that interested in trying them, but he let me try those and they were not too bad at all IMO.
Genesee Bock. By no means a great beer, but when I think Genny, I think cheap, barely drinkable beer. I went to a friends house the other night and this is what he had. Much better than I was expecting it to be.
Almost anything from Sam Adams. For some reason, I never buy much SA stuff myself...there's always more tempting options at my shops. But everytime I have one of just about any of their beers, I'm satisfied. Although, maybe that's because someone else has purchased them.
Saranac Belgium Pale Ale - you have to try it to believe it. Narragansett Summer Ale - the ultimate summer session Widmer Bros Citra Summer Ale The Shed Mountain Ale Sam Adams Double Agent Saranac Black Diamond Bock Abita Turbodog Anchor Foghorn
Dortmunder Gold. Not really a Pils/Lager style guy, but it was great, I was expecting an American kinda lager, but it's not.
Jester King Gotslandricka. I had heard nothing but terrible things about it but it's actually quite good.
