Do you guys have any beer reviewers or bloggers that you go out of your way to read? Not necessarily someone you always agree with, but someone who has a style you might find worth reading. I see a lot of beer blogs around, but haven't found any yet that are as interesting as some of the better blogs about movies or books or music, and it seems like there should be by now. So I assume I just haven't stumbled onto the right blog yet. I enjoy hearing what people think about beer, and sometimes stories about where the style of beer originated or even the history of the brewery itself.
I like the Better Beer Authority. They have a beer review talk show that is actually pretty high production value for beer reviews. The reviewers are more average guys then beer snobs. I follow them on Facebook and they post videos, and travel reviews a couple times a week.
I follow Beer Geek Nation (Chris and Jamison) on youtube and facebook,; both are very knowledgeable and cool. Greg's Beer Reviews on youtube a good resource too. He posts videos every day, very knowledgeable too. I also started following Lost In The Beer Aisle (Joshua Dion) and won a $100 Guinness gift card in a contest he was just having. He's a "average Joe blogger".
I'm a beer blogger I like to think I have a good blog. But fuck if I know. A few hundred people read it, maybe I'm doing something right.
I tend to read reviews of people that I have a similar palate too. Kzoobrew Ehammond1 mdaschaf Cheers!
A couple of local blogs I follow are brewthebeer.com and ncbeerguys.com. If I can shamelessly self-promote a bit, my friend and I started a blog last year with a split focus on beer and hot sauce. That's at drunkenpepper.com. We're still learning the ropes though.
I don't know if homebrewing blogs count but, http://www.themadfermentationist.com Even if you don't homebrew, he does tasting notes on his beers and you can see the recipes (usually linked in the review), so you can get what ingredients lend to what characters in the beer. & of course, BeerGeekNation & DrinkLikaFish. Although DLF isn't reviewing as much anymore, but very entertaining guys.
I was really hoping someone would mention mine haha I updated it last night for the first time a while but id like to think i give a nice review though im sure my blog isnt perfect. I dont have my own domain and my logo and background i made myself so they dont look too great but dammit...i try. But i also watch/follow beer geek nation
I don't really follow/read any beer blogs but my family noticed me getting around to my 1,500 review and said "look he's beer blogging again"
I blogged regularly, until one fateful day I tried to update WordPress through GoDaddy and somehow reverted my page back 2 years and lost that much of my life so I quit updating out of frustration. Long story short, if anyone knows much about WordPress through GoDaddy and can help, I might LIF or something.. I don't read a lot of other blogs, but I did watch some YouTube videos from two guys that were from Philly or something who were funny because they were trashed during the reviews. Can't remember what they called themselves...?
I really like Joe D on youtube and also New Brew Thursday. The segments on NBT with Dr. Bill and his food pairings are always pretty cool to watch and they also go on location with breweries from time to time. Both shows are pretty enjoyable and they tend to do beers that I can get a hold of (the majority of the time).
Gary Dzen writes for the Boston Globe and I find I agree with most of his opinions, and he's also able to work in a bit of narrative. I think its 99 bottles on boston.com.
I just started my own beer blog a few weeks ago. I post about twice a week. I am trying to do more than just reviews like "this tastes blah blah blah." I write a little about the breweries history and even histories/descriptions of the styles. I would love if anyone checked it out. http://thepintpundits.wordpress.com/
I read these two local guys. http://www.examiner.com/craft-beer-in-dallas/paul-hightower http://www.examiner.com/craft-beer-in-plano/brian-brown
Here's a few from the PNW I read regularly: http://www.washingtonbeerblog.com/ http://seattlebeernews.com/ http://brewpublic.com/
I've got one as well that I put a ton of work into and I like to think its worth listening to, but I rarely ever talk about it on here since it gets deleted for solicitation fairly quickly. Gotta say, I'm surprised this thread hasn't been nuked yet actually.
Cheers! Certainly more about brewing/process than commercial beer, but hopefully I write some stuff that any beer nerd could learn from!
I review over at PastorsPint.com Normally I try to keep them short and sweet. I don't read long reviews and figure there's probably others out there like me who just want to know if it's a good beer or not.
When I first joined BA a couple months back I read a lot about these more well known bloggers/vloggers that have... abrasive personalities. It was really entertaining to read all the drama that went down both on and off of BA. Also, I'd like to thank all you guys for sharing, I've been looking around for more beer blogs myself!
I'll chime in, it's in my profile along with my YT channel (it's not just beer). But I am also surprised this thread isn't nuked either, but no foul no harm.
I'm relatively new here and was curious what the rules here were regarding mentioning personal blogs. I started my blog Fall of 2012 because I was tired of just reading dry reviews broken down by some randomly assigned points system (after all, that's what we have BA for, right????) I would rather read and write something that has a bit of humor to it anyway. Here's a link in case anyone is interested in checking it out. http://downthehatch1.blogspot.com/ I follow some guys on FB too. Sud Savant is my favorite. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Sud-Savant/197273873626298?ref=ts&fref=ts
