Just confirmed that more cases hit Austin than the original 5. Specs RR now has 1 "surprise" case (limit 1), so likely other places got more cases as well.
Petrol Station tweeted that they will have Rumpkin bottles this Saturday: Uncle Hoppy@Petrol_Station Anniversary party this sat @noon: bottles- Avery rumpkin & Saint Arnold Bishops Barrel #1
I'll be there also. I don't think I can drink enough with all of the awesome stuff they are having... almost wish I could buy a taster card..ha.
I had a bizarre dream that I bought a ton of this since it was sitting on shelves a long time. How far from reality that is
I visited Specs Airport on Saturday around 3pm and was told they were all out. I'll keep checking around town while crossing my fingers.
Is Rumpkin worth it? I loved Pumkinator and was wondering how Rumpkin compared. Is it more a buy and age beer? Cheers.
I had one last night and I think it's absolutely worth it. I have one from last year and I'm going to drink that one soon to compare. The only thing about aging it is they develop a LOT of sediment. There's an inch of goop in the my bottle from last year and I had a couple more that were becoming increasingly more "goopy". Rumpkin and Pumpkinator are totally different beers. Rumpkin is not a stout but just an extremely potent ale brewed with pumpkin and spices. Pumpkinator is also not barrel aged as Rumpkin is rum barrel aged. It took me 2 hours to finish the Rumpkin and the fun thing about it is that the beer completely changes from when you first pour it to the last sip. I started out with a cold, boozy beer with light carbonation and great pumpkin spice and rum flavor. By the time I finished I felt like I was drinking a pumpkin liqeuer. Do yourself a favor and track a bottle down...
Grabbed 3 bottles at the Twin on 620 on Friday. They still had a good 15 bottles or so left. I think I'll give them some age before even opening one. We'll see how long until temptation gets the better of me though.
I had a Beast a couple of months ago for the 1st time since I got into craft. It was one of my first "big beers" I couldn't stand it then and I enjoyed it 2 months ago.
Even as a craft guy I didn't like the Beast or Samael. That was over 2 years ago though. Maybe it's time to try again. I've never had Mephistopheles. And Uncle Jacobs is soooooo good. They say it'll be back next year, so fingers crossed! I have had DDH Dugana and would like to try DDH Maharaja if they ever bring any our way.
