hey just to let you guys know, arcadia told me on facebook that these beers where not aged in PVW barrels just regular barrels, also it will be distro'd late december.
GR had a fantastic supply of Shipwreck Porter. I saw it at most D/W's and even Meijer at some locations. Hopefully it will be a similar story.
Yes, saw it everywhere. Meijer 7-10 a bottle if i remember correctly. Was a long time ago and I'm not way into porters but it wasn't something that sold out on release day. Was there for a while.
I am def. ISO both of these. If anyone has some for trade PM me and let me know what I can trade you for them.
Yeah, I definitely want to pick up a few. Imp. Stout more then the barleywine. I'm trying to build an big foot vert. and feel that my cellar is overweight with the few bottles of bolt cutter I'm sitting on.
Poindexter's in Rockford, MI still has a case of BA Shipwreck, plus some in their cooler. Anyone in the area still looking some that have been pre-aged for you, that's the place to go. $7.99/bottle if memory serves.
Yeah this stuff was everywhere and I actually picked up three extra bottles at Meijer because it was on sale for $5.50 a bottle !! couldn't pass that up !
There is no 'regular' Shipwreck; it's always been BB aged, but the packaging format changed 3-4 years ago from the 22 oz bottle to the 12 oz bottle with the red wax and new label. The bourbon is more noticeable under the new format so they may have switched to a different barrel source too, and that may be a reason why some fans think they are different beers.
Any updates on if the BA cereal or stout is available at the pub? I'll be there next weekend so curious if battle creek needs to be a stop
Pretty sure that that would have been the regular imperial that you saw, these have not gone to distro. Edit: Didnt realize this post was back in September, you have probably figured this out by now.
I stopped by the pub for lunch while we were waiting for the 4elf party. No BA CK or Imp. Stout, but they did have a bit of the 15th anniversary stuff left.
Me too, but we may still have a chance to grab it ourselves as it hasn't been released yet due to label approval.
It's finally here. From Arcadia's FB page: We just had our weekly tasting panel and tasted barrel-aged Cereal Killer! This beer is tasting SOOOOOOOOOO GOOD, that we've decided to put it on tap here at Arcadia Brewing Company tomorrow night (12/21/12) at 5PM. This beer will be available on tap exclusively at Arcadia for $8/glass (10 oz. pour). Starting Christmas Eve, we will have bottles of barrel-aged Cereal Killer AND Imperial Stout available for $7.99/bottle.
To drive an hour to pick up or wait for the distro to hit GR and pay the markup... that is the dilemma. Although I do have Christmas Eve off work.
That price seems steep, but you can also look at it as $16 for an 'imaginary' 24 oz bottle of beer, and that's pretty much a going rate for beers like this. I'll find out later today if it's good stuff to help justify its value.
Shipwreck is/was $7-$8 a bottle as well. Keep in mind, sometimes beer is pricier at the brewpub. Founders had Bolt Cutter for $26 and I've seen it in other counties in Michigan at $19.99-$20.69.
Does anyone remember how many cases of Shipwreck Porter they released last year? Just because I remember seeing it everywhere.....In GR.
The 'value' is definitely there for the Cereal Killer -- it's fantastic. The brewery didn't have the Imperial Stout on tap last night as announced, so I was not able to have any of it. Bottles of both beers are available at the brewery now.
Had BBA Cereal Killer on draft and BBA Imp Stout bottle at the brewery last night. Both are damn good! Surprisingly the 3 of us enjoyed the Imp Stout better, thought it'd be the other way around. Both great brews though. I picked up some bottles of each.
The info that I was given was that the batch sizes of the BBA Cereal Killer and the BBA Imperial Stout are similar to the size of the Shipwreck Porter, so if your store typically gets some Shipwreck then they should get a similar quantity of both of these new beers. They were out of both tonight at the brewery, so no more is available until Monday (12/24) at noon. They are open only from 12-5 on Christmas Eve.
Are you positive they won't have any bottles for sale tomorrow? I am driving by and was hoping to stop by and get some. Thanks.
I was there today and got a few bottles of each. By the time we left around 7PM EST today they were out of the BBA Imperial Stout and had 2 bottle of the BBA Cereal Killer left.
Unfortunately the brewery is closed on Sundays during the winter months, so you won't find anyone there if you stop.
Are these still available at the brewery? A couple friends and I are doing a tour through MI and it might be nice to pick some of these up. Maybe we will stop and check it out this weekend.
