I want to believe you, but my heart won't let me
If not early next week... then early next month... if not early next month... then early next year... if not early next year... early next decade... if not early next dec...
One I hear every year from people in beer departments is "they didn't make as much as they did last year" or "we didn't get as much as we did last year"
I guess we need a reminder.
Don't forget San Antonio hasn't gotten any yet.
FYI... There is a full case on the shelves at the volente HEB (620 & Anderson mill) for those who haven't gotten any yet.
I'm beginning to think that Austin got all of this beer. Seems there is a non-ending string of cases. lol
Yeah, I'm starting to consider taking a 3 hour drive to Austin just to go get some....lol.
San Marcos (of all places) got 3 cases last week
does beer sit a while in San Marcos?
Not limited stuff. Maybe for 2-3 days max. Buddha was gone in a day, Abyss in two, Funk Metal in 4 I think. Pumpkinator required an employee escort. Black Ops was gone in 3 or 4. They have plenty of Tactical Nuclear Penguin though, and Ballast Point (if you're in SA and dont want to drive all the way to Austin).
Well that explains why they got so much.
Sounds like they don't have problem moving product.
I also saw a bottle of Sink the Bismark.
We still have TnP in Houston and I've seen it in New Orleans in the last few months as well.
Although interesting, they aren't particularly good, so it doesn't surprise me that a meh $100 bottle of beer(s) is still on the shelf.
I would imagine so, bunch of broke college kids drinking Natural Light or Lone Star... even when I was in college there I wouldn't have known what Abyss was (or been able to afford $15 for a bottle of it), I was still in my entry level craft/import beer phase (Fat Tire, Shiner, Sam Adams, Guinness, Newcastle, etc.)
Anyone seen it in Houston yet?
I think someone would've posted in this thread if they in CAPS, with bold italics if they had.
As of now, us Austinites are now lookin' like complete jerks who hoarded all The Abyss.
Who distributes Deschutes in Houston? Because it's hard to imagine anyone sucking more than CBC and they're managing to do it.
I don't know. In only here on a business trip. But I called D&Q and they said it "hadn't hit TX yet". But clearly it has... But maybe it never gets to Houston?
Ben E. Keiths I believe...
Does anyone know if this list gets populated ONCE a beer is delivered to the shop, or once it leaves Oregon? Can't really find any locations in Houston that are receiving Abyss
Just need to keep playing the waiting game....
The list gets updated the morning after the shipment, but not on weekends or, it seems, holidays. With the Dissident, it was a godsend - who else would have figured Wheatsville Coop got a case? But because most of the Abyss shipments went out Friday, the list wasn't updated until Tuesday, and by that point people had figured out every HEB in town seemed to have gotten a case.
DFW will have it at least by Tuesday. Mark it down guys!
I just found out my county and the one adjacent are only getting 1 case total and all the bottles are pretty much sold already.
That should be a Houston BA shirt. lol
That is just wrong.
Yea man, it's a bummer. And it was a store employee that told me that. I mean yea I expect a store's beer guy/guys are going to get a few, but damn. It's discouraging to have a store say they are getting some and pretty much tell you they aren't selling any in the same breath.
Sounds like the friend connection.
The Whole Foods by me does that every year with their Divine Reserve... they always have a waiting list of sorts. Like when I've gone in to ask for it, they respond "are you on the list?" sorry, it's all reserved for people on the waiting list"
Yep. And I've bought a lot of beer at that particular store over the past few years. Rest assured, I will find this beer elsewhere.
This one is supposed to be a "first come, first serve" store. Lists are BS though. I don't think I've encountered a store that's shot me down due to a list yet. I'd challenge that on the spot. Surely management wont turn down right-now money.
My offer still stands man...was able to grab another couple bottles today so I can take care of you if you need it.
Yea man! These high school antics over beer is for the birds. I'll BM ya.
Ballas Point in San Marcos? Where please?
Herd from an heb source in Houston, 2 weeks. So, I guess if 1 week is good 2 better?
by the time houston sees this i wont have to struggle to wait for the "best after" date.
If you're in SA and didn't get any I would be glad to do an IPT at the JK#2 Anniversary party for some Freetail Porto Gallito I would be up for that.
Good news, Austinites! The Brodie & W.C. HEB has Abyss and possibly Pumpkinator in stock. Bad news is that you won't get any unless you catch the beer/wine manager working, so you might want to call first. I tried to get a ballpark figure on Abyss, but they were saying much other than it's limit one per person regardless of multiple visits. The manager is good with faces, and she is the only one authorized to hand out bottles to prevent hoarding. Not sure if I scored the last Pumpkinator, but it's worth asking about if you end up taking a trip.
