Smog City Taproom Grand Opening!

So how many made it out to the grand opening of Smog City in Torrance on Saturday?

I got there between 1 and 115. Already packed with around 20 in line waiting for their beers. Floor was packed. A few tables and chairs. Most everyone was either in line or standing with their glasses in hand. I thought they were going to have more of their beers on tap. But they had like 6 or 7 on tap. A good selection. Amarilla Gorilla was good. Got me a growler of the ipa to take home. A very cool growler. Nice art work on it. Price of growler was average at $6. But the fill of Amarilla Gorilla and the others were $20 for the fill. Now I thought Beachwood BBQ & Brewing growler fill were high. Not. Now Beachwoods beers are definatelly better than Smog City's beers and you have a lot more selections. I don't know if it was because of the grand opening the prices were high. It can't be because of the rent in the area of Torrance. I think Porter mentioned that he was looking at opening up in LA but the rent was too high. So he chose Torrance instead. So I bought me a growler because it was one of the coolest art work I've seen on a growler for six bucks. The Amarilla Gorilla was good too. But to be going back and getting a refill every week? Time will tell. Overall a very nice opening for LA's newest (2 years old) brewery. There is a future for Smog City here in the LA/OC craft beer scene. Looking forward to the Dude's opening this year.

 

Bummed I didn't make it out there for this. Anyone know what the tap room hours at Smog City will be?

It was really packed there Sat around 2:00. 15 min line for pours/growler fills.
Got a growler of the Groundworks. Prices a tad high but the growler itself is so cool I would've paid 15-20 for it alone. I'm sure it will be well-used. Amarilla Gorilla was great, and the Bourbon OE was fantastic.
Exciting times in the South Bay with Strand and now Smog City, plus Dudes opening a taproom in Dec or so from what I heard. Plus Abigaile and Monkish.

 

made it to the opening around 3, and it was packed. Had an Amarilla Gorilla and Bourbon Red. Both were delicious. very much looking forward to frequenting the taproom

So...anyone got tap room hours?

 

I had no idea they brewed Bourbon OE. Have had it a few times at TBC and it is fantastic. Next time I'm up in the South Bay I'll have to check out the new taproom.

 

Anyone up that way coming down to SD this weekend?
Would like a growler filled for a tasting on Sunday but won't have the chance to get up there in the next 2 days.
