I was down in Central Illinois last week and finally picked up some Alesmith. I'm going to consider this to be my first true Speedway Stout. I've sampled it during bottle shares, but my palate was fatigued by then not to mention I was feeling pretty good. It certainly lives up to its reputation for sure; perfect use of coffee in a stout. Accents the roasty notes in the stout while the rest of the base beer prevails. If I want a beer, I'll crack a bottle. If I want a coffee bomb, I'll grab an espresso at the nearest coffee shop. Let's go Hawks!

Founders Centennial IPA. Go Tigers and Red Wings.
Also this was the first craft beer I tried. Wow has my palate changed, I used to think this beer was extremely bitter but it's pretty smooth to me now. I really enjoy it now.

When it comes to VT Double IPA's, Double Sunshine is really good, but I think Heady just barely edges it. I haven't had any of HF's high end IPA's yet though.

Another solid offering from Rolling Meadows - the maple syrup gives it a nice sweetness. Didn't think I'd be going back to my typical fall/winter beers right before Memorial Day weekend...Chicago weather - gotta love it.

First time with this one. I had some barely wines before I really got into beer and they were too strong for me at the time. I'm kicking myself now for not going back to try them again sooner. I'm loving this Stone and next time I see Bigfoot I'm going to retry that too.
