What local beer should we be drinking and / or watching out for ? Or should we just bring our own ?

Bring your own. The beer situation in Croatia is dreadful. But if you find anything good, let me know, I'm going to Croatia this summer.

Was there a few years back and had some Velebitsko at a bar called Cafe Bar Zara. Had some fun there and stayed for a few nights. The beer was pretty decent, but I've heard that the brewery was bought out and the recipe changed.
Human Fish is the popular micro in Slovenia these days, maybe it has worked it's way into Croatia.

I had Human Fish in Slovenia when I was there a few weeks ago. The closest to American beer during my trip. They had a pale ale and IPA.

Their facebook says that their IPA is dry hopped with Cascades and Styrian Dana hops. Pretty sure they use an american ale yeast.

Has anyone ever been to the Human Fish Brewery in Vrhnika?
