So, I've found myself sans-wife and child this Memorial Day weekend and was thinking of planning a multiday Beercation. I'm in Memphis and anything within four hours seems reasonable. Nashville, Little Rock, Huntsville, or even further.

My question to by BA bretheten... What are the must-visit breweries you'd hit given an opportunity like this?

I'm all about hitting the well known breweries, but also looking to find those hidden gems not yet above the radar.

Thanks for the advice and cheers!

Just drive down to New Orleans and set up residence at the Avenue Pub.

I've not visited any of the breweries in Huntsville, I am there about once a quarter for work but haven't had time to work in any brewery visits. I've had a lot of the beers that are coming out of Huntsville, I really like some of the Straight to Ale and Yellowhammer stuff. If you go to Huntsville you might as well go another 1.5 hours south to Birmingham and hit up Good People, Avondale, and Cahaba. In Birmingham you could also get growlers at Hop City and a nice beer dinner at the J. Clyde

Josh tells the truth!!! If you don't make it past Huntsville, The Nook is a must visit for food and beer...and definitely check out Below The Radar

The Nook in Huntsville, Hop City in Birmingham and The Avenue Pub in New Orleans are all great stops.

In Huntsville, the tap rooms at Straight to Ale and Blue Pants are worth a visit. As mentioned earlier there's also the Nook and Below The Radar. If you don't get to Huntville this weekend you might want to plan a visit in a few months. There are 4 more breweries or brewpubs currently in the early stages.

Hope it's not too late but I will definitely second Straight to Ale and Blue Pants Brewery here in the Huntsville area. If you are looking for a good package store hit up Liquor Express.

Sampan is right, and just to clarify, Liquor Express is a great place to get tap beer to go, and they have an excellent selection of both bottles and draft.
Also if you get to the Nook, you must check out their nice deck in the back. In Madison, just West of Huntsville, chech out The Stem & The Stein on County Line Road and their nice patio.
