Kate the Great on tap at Portsmouth Brewery

Looks like I'll be taking the wife to dinner in Portsmouth tonite!! Hope it lasts that long!

 

Now that's dedication! CT to NH for 2 pours of KTG

 

I had it on tap a little while back at the brewery. I'd almost never turn down trying a beer again but would have nothing to bring to the table.

 

Any idea if this will last until tomorrow? going to sign my lease in the AM. I wish i lived there now!

 

It's a Friday night, and the 5:00 crowd is likely there already, so I'm gonna wager it kicks tonight for sure, especially if they've been on keg 2 since lunch.

 

Kate kicked at 3:00 :-(

 

Hey - thanks very much for the heads up on this one. You helped at least one site member try this brew for the first time. You are a good egg.

I like how Kate is just crammed in the middle of the list almost as an afterthought...

 

I enjoyed Founders Impy stout that was on guest tap there a couple weeks ago much more than any KtG I've had. True story.

 

I felt that Kate with a year on it was very similar to Royal Impy. My friend and I were actually joking that Tyler switched out the kegs...

Kate fresh last year was hands down the greatest beer I've ever tasted. A year on it seemed a lot of sweet port/vinous quality had faded and the oak came out a lot more, giving it a similar vibe to Tyler's Royal Impy.

 

Just above awful?............Interesting.

I thought it was one of the smoothest brews I have had this year.Stoked I have another bottle to boot!

So for everyone who got to try this year's Kate the Great, I have one question: How was it?
I can't believe that there are 34 posts on this thread and not one says anything about how this year's Kate actually tastes. :-)

 

I don't believe it was this year's, PBrew isn't going to make it again. An old keg was my assumption.

 

I guess in that case one or two people actually did comment on how it tastes. My bad.

It was 2012 Kate and it was excellent.

 

It was last year's KtG. For me, it was still delicious and just as smooth as it was having it fresh. Really good and still one of the best stouts I've ever had.
