In 1985 in anticipation of a road trip from Baltimore to Assateague I stopped into a small liquor store in Charles Village and bought about 8 different beers I had never had. To pass the time I described and rated each beer and placed the descriptions and labels into a notebook. I continued to do this and a year later moved to Munich. I looked around and said, either I have to drop this hobby or get serious. I chose the latter. Twenty-seven years later I have over 4000 labels, each of which I either drank or tasted the beer. Needless to say, my ten years in Bavaria taught me a thing or two about beer.
