I was blessed to not begin my beer journey with a pallet molested by cheap "redneck water" as my cousin once called them. No, I wasn't one of those Bud Lite drinkers before my craft beer enlightenment. I wasn't a beer drinker at all, actually. Only about a year ago was I told about good beer. Having assumed all beer was for fat rednecks from Paulding County Georgia who want to get a little buzz while not being the least bit concerned that the Bud Lite in their hand tasted like the piss they recently showered the john with. I took the advice to buy a six pack of something beside piss beer, and report back to my buddy what I thought. Abita Purple Haze was what I choose. From the look of it, Abita is the beer of Louisiana - one worth bragging about. I was impressed. But it took a little getting used to having never tasted beer in my life. Since that day - and my wife could definitely attest to this - I have been on a journey to try all the good craft beers available. From Purple Haze to Founders Breakfast stout, my journey continues glass by glass.
