I'm a MN BA heading to Galveston at the end of March. I'd love advice from any locals on where the best place to try local/Texas craft beers would be. I also have a great stock of stuff I could bring to trade (Surly, Founders etc) if anyone wants to send me a message and set something up. Thanks for your help!

Brew's Brothers on The Strand is a great beer bar. Small and comfortable place to chill.

On Facebook they said that they are barrel aging. So I only assume...

Brews Brothers is brewing and has been offering up samples with donations going to charity. I don't think their kitchen is up and running yet, though.

I was just in Brew's last weekend. They were brewing, but didn't have any food that I saw yet. They did have some BBA Hellfighter on tap, though.

Thanks for the suggestions! I really appreciate your input.
Again, if anyone is interested in me bringing some Surly (etc) stuff to swap for cool Texas brews, I'm up for that!

Brews Brothers are brewing but still don't have any permits,
thats why they have to give it away.

Or head about 25 miles up I-45 and hit Nobi Public House!

^This was going to be my recommendation but Tom beat me to it. This is definitely a great place to check out.

Think I'm going to go have a pork chop with a fried egg and some Victory at Sea for lunch today at Nobi.

I'm going to need to hit up the Galveston spots soon also.

This sounds intriguing. What makes this such a strong recommendation?

You wont find a better selection of craft beer south of downtown Houston, in my opinion. 40+ taps and 300+ bottles. A wide variety of Texas brews, they often have some of the more limited releases. Check out their Facebook page for what's on tap, it changes daily.
