Well, you know how some people get their Christmas shopping done by the middle of October?

Same thing happens for those looking for April Fool's Day gifts.

<3 Breweries that ship beer. Imagine if Hill Farmstead and Russian River decided to sell online themselves opposed to going after ebay sales...

I thought there were laws in place to prevent this. Forcing us to use the three-tier system for alcohol distribution.

This is actually a good idea. Find a friend who is really into craft beer. Really excitedly tell them that you had an awesome beer shipped that you think they will love.

Just make sure said friend isn't bigger than you.

I wouldn't mind that gift too much, April Fool's or not...at least someone else paid for it!

Damn their shipping is a tad ridiculous and it makes me wonder if they ship why I haven't found any of their brews in the Pittsburgh area

In the case of the OP, the term 'ship' means "direct shipping of their beer to consumers (in states where allowed by law)". If you haven't found the beers, it's because you haven't ordered it.

No brewery that I ever heard of ships beer out of state direct to retailers and, in most if not all states, that would violate the beer excise tax laws (unless the retailer paid it, as is the case in DC). Also, considering the expense of small package shipping (vs trucking), it would make those beers particularly expensively.

That Old Crusty vertical is pretty cool...not sure if those are all the years they made it or if some are skipped.
