If I lose interest I drink a few Miller Lites... Then I'm more than happy to jump back on the bandwagon.

Dude.. That is good ass rum. I was at a friends house, and they literally have enough money to drink whatever the fuck they want. His wife loves to make crazy cocktails and stuff.. Like high end bar quality.. Mt Gay is their choice of rum.. It's good, and the best value period for rum.

I get burnt out.. I look at this as a hobby, and I jump around..

I've got a helluva stash, so I tell myself to stop buying, and drink more. Then I get to the point where I don't drink as much, because I get fat as shit, so I tone it down, and get back to playing more golf, and shooting guns. So I stop spending on beer, to do other stuff..

Then I get bored, and I want to brew, so I end up with like 20 gallons of random beer recipes I've done and feel the need to drink to make room because I hate to hoard.

It's a cycle that pretty much goes round and round.

Nope. Plenty of time for that when I'm dead.

Trying different kinds of beer is actually good. You will never know what you actually like until you've tasted many different kinds and from different brewers. I know that buying really good beer can be expensive and will definitely put a dent on your wallet but later on, believe me, it'll all be worth it. Why? because then you can brew your own beer and you will know what taste you'll be aiming for.

I now have regained beer fever, where I find myself obsessing over beer, impulsively buying, checking out the selection in every store I walk into regardless of what it is. Even at gas stations and bodegas who are known for having a less than stellar selection.

I get bored with the dull average brews, and when I do i just go back to Ultra or Miller Lite for a month. I'm on a great IPA run right now with no sign of hop burnout, I also have a ton of great BA Stouts stacked up and no internist in drinking them right now.

So, when you get bored with dull average brews you revert to drinking dull average brews.
If that works for you, great

I never actually tasted "corn" in a beer before until I recently had Miller Lite. That literally tasted like Dipsy Doodle Corn Chip-infused seltzer water. Not necessarily bad, offensive or undrinkable, but just bland and boring.

sometimes, but it's usually because I haven't had a good one in a while

something barrel aged or with India in the title usually sets me back on track

That it is, but it's cheap and inoffensive. When I can go into a bar with 30 taps and it's blah, why bother with an expensive craft brew that's not working? I get this way maybe twice a year when nothing is really working, but I still can enjoy sitting on a bar stool for an hour.

Once in a while, for a week or two, I stop drinking beer and focus on Sailor Jerry and Dr. Pepper

I tend to get sick of alcohol in general (95% of my alcohol consumption is beer).

Lately I find that I enjoy brewing beer way more than drinking it.

I drink mainly IPA's and yes I do get bored with what's available off the shelf every now and then. So I have a choice: I either trade for great stuff I can't get here, or buy from an online store, or take the least expensive route and go back to simple easy to drink lighter brews. Hell, I drove over 600 miles one way for my HT fix, I recently got half a case of Abrasive from france 44 as well, but that costs. Sometimes an Ultra is just right and it's easy. It fixes it self in time, but I got myself burned out drinking a ton of Backwoods Bastard and BA Peoples Porter a few months ago too.

I wouldn't say I lose interest in beer, I still check BA a couple times a day for trades or just something to do, but I've been pretty uninterested in actually drinking anything for the last couple weeks. We opened a couple nice bottles the other day and it was almost a chore to get through them. I'm taking a break this month for every beer not named Hopslam.

Seems a little extreme, don't you think?

You can get burned out on too much of almost anything - video games, pizza, etc. Just take a few weeks off (which is what I'm doing now) and things will return to normal. Don't force it.

I've only taken 3 days off so far and I'm craving a beer more than I have in quite some time!

Most macro-adjunct lagers are inoffensive to me.

They are, and one of the bars I like has $1 domestic cans on Thurs. If I don't want a $5 brew I can buy a buck can and watch ESPN for an hour.
