It seems as though the opposite is generally the case around these parts...but I usually have far more equally fantastic options than I do dollars. Not run of the mill things...but things one might not expect to see on shelves at this point...stuff that some stores sell out of in very short order...just...sitting there...in like...sleeper stores? Sitting there...teasing me...BCBS...BCBCS...Bolt Cutter...Backwoods Bastard...no dough...shit's killin' me.

Get several more jobs. I have 3 jobs right now, really the only way I get to buy beer now.

Buy the BCBCS, do whatever you have to do to buy the BCBCS

My local store (in Philly no less) has 120, WWS, Backwoods Bastard, BCBS, and maybe some Bolt Cutter left. I mean, they're marked up a bit, but all of that that stuff has been there for weeks now.

Meh, there's always good stuff on the shelves. Buy what you can afford or what you can drink in a reasonable amount of time and forget about the rest.
There will be a new hot beer of the week on on the shelf when you get paid again.

Wow no kidding. I guess the abundance of delicious options that you can't afford has got to be worse than having a lot of cash but nothing worth spending it on. #firstworldproblems or #thirdworldproblems?

Funny how stuff like that sits and I have to fight just to get one case at my store, although our volume as a company is not even considered when it comes to receiving limited releases.

I run a 170 member beer club and have taken to raffling limited releases off because otherwise it's the same 11 beer hawks who get it every time. Silly.

It's strange...two stores within a twenty minute drive of one another...one never even has to make shelf space for limited releases...and the other has them for all of eternity...guess I'm lucky in that I can pick 'em off slowly though...BCBCS last night...next week BCBS...then maybe Backwoods Bastard...then Bolt Cutter...ad it'll all probably still be waiting for me.

If I had to go out and buy the beer of the week that gets blown the fuck up on BA, I'd be broke as shit. Once in a while though, I splurge. I recently purchased 4 bottles of DuClaw Divine Retribution No. 2 for $28 a piece. That's insane on my end, but once in a while, you have to do it.

I often wonder and have commented in the past, how the fuck some of these people can afford these insane hauls I see, but I guess it really is none of my business. Buy what you can afford, splurge once in a while when you can, keep it craft and be happy.

Its funny (or sad) when the only thing motivating me to get a better paying job is beer.

The beer scene is just like anything else , people buying stuff they can not afford because the want to fit in. If I cant afford it I dont buy and and dont worry about getting it. There are also times Im just a cheap ass and Im not going to spend 25 bucks for a 4 pack of beer, I mean Ive been driving the same truck for 12 years and my house payment is a third of most of the guys I work with, but I'm happy ,so thats what matters. Find beers that you can afford to drink that are great , they are out there.

Theres a really nice mercedes dealership down the street from me that always has nice cars for sale year round. Wish I could afford a new AMG.

Fortunately for people like us there's Sierra Nevada, Smuttynose, Founders, Nissan, Ford, ect who make solid products that are within the budget of many.

We have Bolt Cutter and Backwoods Bastard sitting here too. It's hard to look at.

I have passed over Bolt Cutter, BCS, and KBS in the past 2 weeks to save my money up for Cherry Rye, which I'm skipping my lunch break on Tuesday to pick up when it (supposedly) finally comes to NYC.

I believe that your lifestyle is what's called living within one's means, not something that many Americans seem to be able to do.

I'll definitely get a little jealous sometimes when I see someone post a "haul" that would represent a solid year for me in terms of epic rare beers, and yet when I look in my fridge there's always something tasty to drink and that usually makes me feel quite a bit better.
