Is there anyone that lives close to De Dolle that can help me out?

Glad you got helped out Winterpeg. I'm having a hell of a time trying to get someone to help me out with some of this stuff as well, though rumor has it I eventually did get lucky. I'm hopeful. In any case, there are still helpful, honest peoeple out there

I can hardly blame everyone for asking for The Big Three (Narke, Blabaer and Dirty Horse). Most people new to trading, or at least new to trading overseas, probably aren't aware of the situation, and other people are just trying to get the best bang for their GI buck. Most seasoned traders, however, know the deal and are interested in other things besides the obvious.

I am quite lucky, I have just received a bottle of the 2010 Reserva as a gift from a customer.

Interesting issue, Jeffo. What are you proposing, other than Cantillon or Drie Fonteinen for regular trades? I have little idea what is of interest, available in Europe that you can't find in the US.

Thanks! Out of curiousity, are you the guy that exchanges boxes once a year with my friend Ken Yost here in Winnipeg? Apologies if I've got you mixed up with someone else. However, if you are, many thanks for getting Ken those De Cam bottles, as he brought them over to my house for a tasting night so I got to try some! :sunglasses:

Well there is Pius X by Brouwerij De Graal. But I seem to be one of the few that know about it.

Yeah, that's me. Glad you guys liked the De Cam. I've turned into a bit of a fan as well. Their 2009 lambiek is excellent, and the gueuze is no slouch either. There were a few other things in that box as well, so get on Ken's ass about them :grinning:

Ken seems like a good chap. Hope to trade with him again this summer. If you guys are sharing the box, feel free to put in requests as well. Just please steer clear of The Big Three and their colleagues...

A lot of the best stuff in Europe is available, albeit for very short periods, on various webshops in Belgium. Stuff like Fou' Foune, Mamouche, St. Gilloise Gueuze, Rose de Gambrinus, etc., from Cantillon are things you could trade for instead of trying to get online. Would probably be easier and cheaper to get them all in one box from a trader than having to order several boxes when these beers are available. Same goes for releases from De Cam, Oud Beersel, Boon, Drie Fonteinen, Tilquin, etc., if you're into sours mostly. Other popular brewers here that are only sporadically available online are Fantome, De Struise, De Molen and Mikkeller if you're into things other than sours.

Again, I don't blame new traders for asking for Blabaer, Narke, Dirty Horse, DQ, Framboos, etc., when they first dip into overseas trading. Most people don't know how hard this stuff is to get and aren't aware that Europe has a lot more to offer than the mega whales. Seasoned traders, and there are a lot of them, are usually more aware of the situation and are interested in other things. Besides, it is not like M, WH, BA DL and Izzy are the only beers in the States.

Ditto to this. You might find Europeans more interested in trading nice available just in the states stuff for nice available in Europe stuff.

Heck, if you know someone in Europe, pick stuff from a site like Etre Gourmet and pick it up when you go and meet them.
