I am very bad at math. I am trying to figure out the formula for figuring the weight of barley moisture in pounds. Example: I have a barley with a weight of 5.625 pounds and a moisture of 12.5%. How do I caluclate to find how much the water weighs and how much does the barley weigh?

    5.625 lbs x 0.125 = 0.7 lbs

    I'm figuring the barley weighs 4.921875 #s (5.625 x .875) ...(.875 +.125 = 1)
The water then must weigh something like .7 #s (rough)

Edit: had a feeling Vikeman would beat me to the math problem : )

I see how that works but where does the .875 come from?

    100% - 12.5% = 87.5% = 0.875

(I'm assuming that's where he got it. Otherwise, it was an awesome guess.)
